Together, we can prevent suicide and build a community of hope!
Arizona Suicide Prevention Coalition
The Arizona Suicide Prevention Coalition is a dedicated community-based organization committed to preventing suicide and promoting mental health and well-being throughout Arizona. They provide essential resources and education to support individuals, families, and communities impacted by suicide.
If you’re scared to say the word suicide—either because you’re thinking about it, you’re worried someone you know might be considering it, or, you just don’t know how to talk about it—The JED Foundation wants you to know it’s OK to say it. Being able to talk openly about suicide opens the door for people to get help. The JED Foundation is here to not only tell you it’s OK to say suicide, they're here to show you how.
Semicolon Society provides free mental health education to the community, with an emphasis on suicide prevention and support. By providing direct discussions and resources about mental health, Semicolon Society seeks to reduce the stigma in having critical conversations, increase awareness and understanding of mental health challenges, and reduce suicide in our community.
Mindwise Innovations: Signs of Suicide
CUSD utilizes Signs of Suicide (SOS), a national prevention program that educates students about warning signs for suicide and encourages them to acknowledge, care, and tell a trusted adult whether they have concerns about themselves or a friend.
Visit Signs of Sucide for additional information on the program and see the handouts below:
-
The Hope Institute
CUSD's partnership with The Hope Institute is the first school-based suicide treatment center of its kind. Any K-12 student having thoughts of suicide can receive services within 48-hours and up to 3-4 times a week if needed.
All clinicians have suicide specific treatment training that reduces thoughts of suicide within an average of 5.2 weeks. The Hope Institute utilizes a combination of two evidence-based, suicide-focused treatments, the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) and group skills in Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to reduce suicidal risk, increase hope, and obtain the ability to safely wait for ongoing care through stabilization.
You can schedule an appointment online here or call (480) 770-1773.
For more information about The Hope Institute, you can contact their Clinical Director, Lindsay Taylor (lindsay.taylor@thehopeinstitute.net) or CEO, Derek Lee (derek.lee@thehopeinstitute.net) and/or visit their website.
