Although Chandler Unified educates only about 3% of the students in Arizona, CUSD students took home one third of the state’s Senior Division Best of Fair award-winning projects at the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair (AzSEF) held at the Phoenix Convention Center from April 4-5, 2019! Best of Fair winners from the Senior High Division go on to compete at the prestigious Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), which will be held in Phoenix this year from May 12-17, 2019.

AzSEF is the science and engineering fair for the state of Arizona and is managed by Arizona Science Center. AzSEF brings together hundreds of science fair first-place winners from across Arizona to compete for thousands of dollars in prizes and scholarships.

Scroll down to see the details and photos (as we add them) about our fabulous schools and Science and Engineering Fair award-winning students.

  • 2019 HISEF (Hamilton Invitational Science and Engineering Fair) Winners at the Inaugural Chandler Innovation Fair

    Posted by Webmaster on 2/25/2019

    Congratulations, HISEF Winners!

CIFThe first Chandler Innovation Fair (CIF) was an incredible success. More than 3,500 students were represented at the event on February 23 at Hamilton High School, with over 5,000 people in attendance. CIF featured interactive STEM booths. Every CUSD school and most Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs were represented. CTE had a car show, computer science challenge using Microbit/Microbots, engineering boat races, culinary cooking demos, a sports medicine tape-off and quiz bowl, and a digital photography competition.

Superintendent, Camille Casteel was a keynote speaker and helped award more than 100 students for their science fair projects during the cornerstone event, the Hamilton Invitational Science and Engineering Fair.

Additionally, special awards were given to innovative projects in all event categories presented by Intel, Waymo, the City of Chandler, Grand Canyon University, Northrop Grumman, StateFarm, and SRP.

The Chandler Innovation Fair wouldn't have been the success it was without the teachers, students, families, and community support. A special thank you to everyone involved.

ALL HISEF and CIF WINNERS LISTED BELOW!

    Acknowledgements

  • CUSD Shines at 2018 AzSEF (Arizona Science and Engineering Fair)

    Posted by Webmaster on 4/6/2018

2018 Arizona Science and Engineering Fair

AzSEF WebsiteAlthough Chandler Unified educates less than 4% of the students in Arizona, CUSD students took home almost half of the state’s Best of Fair Awards at the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair (AzSEF) held at the Phoenix Convention Center from March 22nd - 23rd, 2018! Best of Fair winners from the Senior High Division go on to compete at the prestigious Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), which will be held in Pittsburgh this year from May 13-18, 2018.

We are proud to announce that seven of the 15 Best of Fair projects and eight of the 17 students who won Best of Fair for the Senior Division (and are proceeding on to the international competition at ISEF) hail from Chandler Unified School District!

AzSEF is the science and engineering fair for the state of Arizona and is managed by Arizona Science Center.  More than 900 school, homeschool, district, county and regional science fair first place winners from across Arizona competed this year at AzSEF for recognition, prizes and scholarships, and 272 students won awards. Notably, approximately one quarter of ALL of the Elementary and Junior Division awards in the state of Arizona, and one third of ALL of the Senior Division (high school) awards were won by Chandler Unified School District students!  Outstanding job!

Scroll down to see the details and photos (as we add them) about our fabulous schools and Science and Engineering Fair award-winning students.

  • 20th Annual HISEF (Hamilton Invitational Science and Engineering Fair) a Success

Posted by Webmaster on 3/1/2018 1:00:00 AM

    Congratulations, HISEF Winners!

On February 24th, Hamilton High School hosted the 20th annual Hamilton Invitational Science and Engineering Fair (HISEF) featuring fabulous student projects!  Seven hundred projects were registered and 1,200 students competed -- 231 projects at the senior division and 469 projects from grades 5-8.

HISEF Winners Dr. Matt Strom - Master of Ceremonies and Assistant Superintendent for K-12 Educational Services, Nishon Adams - Supply Chain Sourcing Manager from Intel, and Nitish Peela - former Hamilton High School winner and current ASU BSE: Biomedical Engineering student, NSF Graduate Research Fellow and founder of a medical diagnostic company all gave empowering speeches to a standing room-only crowd at the awards ceremony.  The halls inside were packed with over 50 vendors. Outside, visitors enjoyed the delicious Doughlicious Food Truck, rocket launches on the football field courtesy of Orbital ATK, a demonstration from the Chandler Fire, Health and Medical Department, and astronomers leading sun gazing activities.

    Acknowledgements

    • Thank you to the dedicated judges who devoted their time to our students. Chandler Unified School District is lucky to have these strong partnerships with our community, teachers, and schools.
    • Thank you to all of the site coordinators, level leads, teachers, students, parents, principals, and community members for making this event possible. It is with your continuous support that opportunities like these can be provided to CUSD students.
    • Lastly, a special thank you to Intel, without whose continued support and generosity, this fair would not be possible. Not only do they provide a grant to support these efforts, but they also provide manpower to make this a successful event.

  • CUSD Dominates 2017 AzSEF (Arizona Science and Engineering Fair)

    Posted by Webmaster on 4/25/2017

2017 Arizona Science and Engineering Fair

AzSEF WebsiteChandler schools dominated the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair (AzSEF) held at the Phoenix Convention Center from April 11th - 13th, 2017, and won Best of Fair for the Elementary division for the second year in a row.

To give some perspective, although Chandler Unified educates less than 4% of the students in Arizona, our students took home more than half of the state's Grand Awards. Incredible job!

AzSEF is the science and engineering fair for the state of Arizona and is managed by Arizona Science Center.  School, homeschool, district, county and regional science fair first place winners from across Arizona compete at AzSEF for recognition, prizes and scholarships. Grand Award winners from the Senior High School Division go on to compete at the prestigious Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), which will be held in Los Angeles this year from May 14-19, 2017.  We are proud to announce that 8 out of the 15 Grand Award winning projects from Arizona that will proceed to the International Fair hail from Chandler Unified School District! Wow!

Scroll down to see the details and photos (as we add them) about our fabulous schools and Science and Engineering Fair award-winning students.
