SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Ananya Lakhotia is a recipient of the highly competitive and prestigious Flinn Scholarship for 2021 and will be attending Barrett, The Honors College at ASU to double major in Biochemistry and Justice Studies. For the past 3 years she has been an active member of the Speech and Debate team where she contributed both as a participant and captain. She received the Academic All-American award from the National Speech & Debate Association, reserved for only the top 2% of the NSDA member students. As state champion she also got the opportunity to represent Arizona at Nationals. A founding leader of the Peace of Mind club, she was also involved with She's the First, Tutor club and National Honor Society. From an early age, Ananya learned various dance forms including the Indian classical dance of Kathak and in her spare time enjoys baking. Ryanh Morales
SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Ryanh Morales has maintained a 4.54 GPA and earned honorable mention all-region honors as a varsity basketball player. In his free time Ryanh volunteered for several community service projects while also operating his own online business and successfully day trading stocks. He will be obtaining his real estate license this summer and has been accepted by and is considering Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University to study finance and accounting. Jack Tawney
SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Jack Tawney played basketball, volleyball and football. He enjoyed being a student athlete and maintained a strong GPA that has allowed him to attend NAU in the Fall with the full-tuition Lumberjack Scholarship. Jack also completed over 100 hours of volunteer time during his four years of high school. Some of this time included working at an Ironman event, moving an elementary school of furniture, and reading to elementary students. Jack enjoyed participating in the Best Buddies Club, Key Club, and Student Union for Change. He is graduating Cum Laude and is majoring in Business and Administration at NAU. Elizabeth Nakai
SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Elizabeth Nakai has thrived at Arizona College Prep. Her strong work ethic has enabled her to maintain a 4.85 GPA and earn AP Scholar with Distinction honors. In addition to academics, she is also an accomplished student athlete, lettering in cross country and track. She has qualified and competed at the state championships each year and received the AIA's First Team All-State Academic Award. She has participated in several school clubs including National Honor Society, Key Club, Art Club, and was instrumental in creating the Mountain Bike Club at ACP. A strong mountain biker, she earned a few podium finishes at both the Arizona Interscholastic Cycling League's and the Mountain Bike Association of Arizona's races. She intends to continue her competitive mountain biking career in college. Elizabeth will graduate summa cum laude and attend Colorado School of Mines to pursue a degree in environmental engineering. SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Nikhil Dave was an active member of the Robotics Club and Math Club. Over the four years he participated in Robotics, he learned software programming and then taught club newcomers to help "pass on the torch." Nikhil started off as a team lead in Robotics and worked his way to supporting the club as Secretary. He dedicated his time to supporting the logistics behind prepping for tournaments, transporting equipment, and hosting events at ACP Erie. He plans to study Computer Engineering and has been accepted to a few of his choice schools. Nikhil will graduate summa cum laude, is an AP Scholar and a National Merit Scholar Finalist. Melody Williams
SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Arizona College Prep Erie senior Melody Williams has been a student at ACP since 6th grade. Melody developed appreciation of her half-Japanese background and started studying the language on her own about 4 years ago. She joined a Japanese traditional Taiko drumming group, and quickly became an advanced drummer. She performed at multiple stage concerts and community events including ACP International Festival. Melody was accepted to ASU Barrett Honor College with the Presidential Award, but she opted to pursue her passion 5,800 miles away. Bryce Williams
SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Bryce Williams has been a student at ACP from 6th grade. Bryce played basketball at JV and Varsity levels, though unfortunately his seasons were interrupted and ended soon by his two knee injuries during practice. During the course of surgery and recovery, Bryce was so inspired by the work of medical professionals that he decided to pursue the medical field. Bryce was awarded to the Letter of Commendation for National Merit Scholarship, and he is graduating summa cum laude. He will be studying Physiology at U of A with the Wildcat Distinctive Award. SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Payton Phillips has attended ACP for the past seven years and worked very hard to maintain her GPA while still working. She is determined, kindhearted, and loves Jesus. Payton will be graduating high school not only with her high school diploma, but also achieving her Medical Assistant, EKG, and Phlebotomy certification. Andrea Linder
SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Andrea Linder has enjoyed being a part of the ACP community since 7th grade. She has been involved in several clubs and activities over the years including student government, National Honors Society, Model UN, Key Club, dance club, cheer, mock trial club, coding club, gaming club, anime club and theatre. She was the treasurer of student government and theatre. She has also enjoyed being a mentor to underclassmen in the Knights Connection Program and tutoring students after school. Andrea was recently the lead in the KOS production of Oz and was inducted into the International Thespian Society. SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Caden Churnetski enjoyed his career at ACP, experiencing a variety of activities and cherishing quality time with friends. Having competitive passion for sports, Caden played football, basketball and volleyball. He also represented ACP on the AIA's Student Athletic Leadership Advisory Committee, working to support the future of high school sports in Arizona. Caden participated in a wide range of volunteering activities. With Best Buddies, which creates opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Caden supported several events like the Talent Show, Carnival, and Buddy Prom. He volunteered at church events and with his sports teams raising money for Salvation Army. Focused on business and statistics, Caden was a member of DECA. SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Kellen Gibson was a varsity level four-sport athlete in hockey, football, wrestling, and track and field. He helped establish the ACP football program and served as captain for 4 years. Kellen was also a four-time wrestling sectional champion, four-time state qualifier, and the Division III State Champion (220 lbs weight class). He made the all-state academic team in hockey, football, and wrestling and was a state qualifier in the Discus. Kellen excelled in the classroom, maintaining a 4.0 unweighted GPA throughout high school. He was a three-year member of NHS, part of Knights Connection Program mentoring incoming freshmen, and will graduate as an AP Scholar. SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Nicholas David will graduate magna cum laude from ACP as well as from Chandler-Gilbert Community College with an associate of science degree. A member of National Honors Society at ACP and Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society at CGCC, he will attend Barrett, the Honors College at ASU with a double major in architecture and either civil or structural engineering. Nicholas was part of the first ACP team to participate in the Lemelson-MIT Innovations competition, one of 15 high school teams in the U.S. to make the semi-finalists with a great product idea. Nicholas and his partners are in the process of patenting their design. He is founder/president of Coding Club, founder/president of Design Club, co-founder/manager of Music Club, member of Mock Trial Club, UNICEF and more. He loves music and has played the piano since age 3. In band from since 5th grade, he also plays flute and drums. SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Grace Gardner was an active member of the JV Cheer team during her Freshman and Sophomore years, both times competing at Nationals. Grace was an active member of the International Thespian Society for three years, student-directing all major productions at ACP during that time. Grace competed at State in her junior year in Stage Direction and was selected to compete at Nationals for Stage Direction -- which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kazushi is among 15,000 finalists nationwide out of more than 1.6 million students in some 22,000 high schools who enter the National Merit Scholarship competition annually when they take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). Sharmila Nimbkar
SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Sharmila Nimbkar was an active member of Speech and Debate, National Honor Society, Tutor Club, and played on the volleyball team for three years, captain during her sophomore and junior years. As a captain of the Public Forum Debate team and she spent the last two years coaching the ACP Knights speech and debate team. Sharmila was the first debate champion in ACP history in 2018 and also won the 2020 Public Forum debate state championship. Sharmila also qualified for a national silver debate bid at Columbia University in 2019. During her senior year she developed a comprehensive open source debate curriculum, accessible to all students for free and regardless of school affiliation. She was awarded the James T. Anthony scholarship after a 12 year course of study in the Arizona Study Program for piano performance and music theory. SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Orchee Syed was named a National Merit Finalist, one of 15,000 nationwide out of more than 1.6 million students who enter the National Merit Scholarship competition annually when they take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). Finalists represent the top 0.5% of each state's senior students. Orchee participated actively in ACP's State-Champion Speech and Debate team, taking two trophies in the Arizona State tournament and amassing eleven individual trophies over the course of three years. She was also president of our inaugural chapter of International Thespian Society, the theatre troupe Knights On Stage Theatre Company, and performed in four of the company's shows. She is graduating summa cum laude and starting undergrad at Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University in the fall to pursue a Bachelor's degree in psychology. Elaina is already making lasting change in her community, the state and even the world! (And she's under 18 years of age!) As the co-founder of Education Empowers Inc., Elaina helps to increase awareness of STEM-related activities and curriculum to kids who might otherwise not receive that instruction. SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Mariam Khan will be going to Arizona State University studying biological sciences. From a young age, she always had an immense amount of compassion for helping others and plans to pursue this passion in the medical field. Mariam's pride and joy is the school's Red Cross Club, which she founded and presided over. Outside of school, Mariam is known in our community as an avid volunteer, earning Volunteer of the Year at Helping Hands and collecting over 300 hours of service there. In addition to academics, Ashleigh has pursued her passion for dance during the past 12 years, training at several elite ballet schools and competing both regionally and nationally with her dance team. At ACP, she was a member of the ACP Spiritline team where she served as JV and varsity captain of both the cheer and pom teams. She also competed both regionally and nationally with the cheer and pom teams. Ashleigh would like to pursue a career in medicine and hopes to become a cardio-thoracic surgeon. SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Aamina Ahmed is graduating not only with her high school diploma, but with an Associates in Science degree as well. She will attend ASU Barrett with a major in medical microbiology on a pre-med track, and plans to attend medical school. Aamina spent six wonderful years at ACP in which she spent her high school years achieving academic excellence, graduating summa cum laude and as an AP Scholar. She participated in Key Club, National Honor Society, She's the First, Chinese Club, and Red Cross, held numerous officer positions. Alex Gilchrist
SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Alex James Gilchrist is an outstanding student-athlete who consistently strives for athletic and academic excellence and was the recipient of the Big4 Award for Track last year. A true competitor, Alex has proudly defended ACP's Knight honor on the football field, basketball court and track. Despite being diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic the first day of his freshman year and having knee surgery and shoulder injuries, Alex persevered and was one of the starters for ACP's varsity football team every year since its inception in 2017. In addition, Alex was also a true Knight on ACP's varsity track team for four years and on the JV Basketball team for two years. He was a member of the Honor Society and Key Club. SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Zoe Felbein is a senior at Arizona College Prep. She has throughly enjoyed being a Knight. Zoe has supported her school by participating in the varsity spiritline for four years and serving as a team captain her senior year. SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Rekha Anne Wijesuriya is a senior at Arizona College Preparatory - Erie Campus who has consistently excelled both inside and outside the classroom. She is a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship at ASU, and has been accepted into Barrett, the Honors College to pursue a degree in industrial design where she hopes to give flight to her active imagination! SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Nicholas Matthews is a 2019-20 National Hispanic Scholar and will graduate as an AP Scholar with Honor. He has maintained a 4.4 GPA while taking all honors, AP classes and 60 credit hours for dual enrollment since freshman year. Nicholas has earned the Impact Chandler Scholar, volunteering 110 hours of community service since 2017 helping teachers and faculty of the Center for Educational Excellence, the charter school he attended from pre-school to 8th grade. SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Kevin Lu is a talented student and athlete. He is an AP Scholar with Distinction, a member of National Honors Society and National Society of High School Scholars, and world language department student of the year. While maintaining a 4.63 GPA, he has been playing highly competitive volleyball for five years and bowling for 14 years.
