My name is Krista Wilkewitz and I just moved here from Michigan! I am SO excited to be a part of the KGA 6th grade team. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me.
My Education and Professional Background
I am a recent graduate from Grand Valley State University where I received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education. I have a teaching certificate for elementary education in both Michigan and Arizona, with endorsements in mathematics. I taught in Tanzania, Africa for one month in the summer of 2017.
My Educational Philosophy
As your child’s teacher I will constantly change and evolve and learn. Since society is constantly evolving, so must I. I believe that students should experience different perspectives. I will strive to make the environment of CPod and KGA mirror a community, with students being productive members. I expect students to have self-respect, respect of others, and collaborative skills. I believe that teachers are not only present to help students through the state standards, but also to help them through the challenges of growing up. I believe that personal stories should be valued and students who are making life connections to the lessons taught are a lot more likely to understand and remember the material.
