Welcome!
My Education and Professional Background
Eight years ago, I received my Master's Degree in Education from Ottawa University with a Counseling Certificate, which allowed me to continue to work to meet the social and emotional needs of my students. Before coming to Chandler, I worked for Apache Junction Unified School District as an elementary Guidance Counselor. There, I honed my student support skills in areas such as self-esteem, social skills, bullying prevention, teamwork and conflict resolution. While at AJUSD, I received training in CHAMPS (classroom management), RTI (Response to Intervention), the Crisis Team, Love and Logic, Why Try, Second Step, and many other programs. Before that I taught in a Behavioral Disorder classroom for Mesa Public Schools. I am excited to be starting a new adventure at Knox Gifted Academy.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe every day is a new day--a day for learning, laughing, creating and growing. We all will make mistakes, but it is how we react that reflects our character. I want students to know that kindness is the easiest way to connect to the community. Further, I believe the only way to foster student success and growth is through true collaboration between students, parents and teachers.
