Welcome back Hawks to another great year! I have missed you, and I look forward to seeing you in my class!
My Education and Professional Background
The 2019-2020 school year will be my third year teaching! I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science in K-12 Physical Education with a minor in Coaching. I have an extensive background in Track and Field, with a specialization in Pole Vaulting. I've been Pole vaulting for 10 years and I spent 5 of those years training under a three time olympian. I studied Kinesiology, and health in wellness at USD. Currently in the evenings I'm a weights coach for AZPVA. We coach our athletes in variety of olympic lifts, full body movements and nutrition.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that every child is capable of success. When a child is given the proper tools, held to high expectations, and is in an encouraging environment any goal is possible. I've discovered that many adults are intimidated by physical activity. However, by engaging in physical activities at a young age and having fun with fitness I believe that students will be more inclined to pursue an active life. There are a plethora of ways an individual can be active throughout their life, and my students and I are going to explore those options. Some of the different ways that an individual can be active throughout his or her life can include sports, leisure activities, cardio workouts, yoga, and dance.

Wilkes...
Welcome back Hawks to another great year! I have missed you, and I look forward to seeing you in my class!
My Education and Professional Background
I have been teaching since 2017. I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science in K-12 Physical Education with a minor in Coaching. I also studied Kinesiology, and health in wellness at USD. I have an extensive background in Track and Field, with a specialization in Pole Vaulting. I Pole vaulted for 10 years and I spent 5 of those years training under a three time Olympian.
My Educational Philosophy
Physical Education builds the physical, intellectual, and social-emotional development of students. It provides an additional opportunity for students to develop a variety of character traits that are essential outside of school: Cooperation, communication, sportsmanship, kindness, positive self-talk, self-esteem, responsibility, respect, and much more. As a Physical Education teacher my goal is for my students to leave my classroom with confidence to pursue an active and healthy lifestyle.
