|Position:||4th Grade Teacher|
Hello Coyotes! My name is Dr. Debbie Posniack and I am so excited to be at Conley Elementary School this year, teaching 4th Grade! I am in my 24th year as an educator and have taught 2nd-5th grades, been a district curriculum specialist for Social Studies and Literacy, and worked as a school administrator. I am married and have three amazing children: Zachary (24) and Jacob (19) graduated from Hamilton High School and Mikayla (6) is in 1st grade at Fulton. I am a proud CUSD parent and teacher!
My Education and Professional Background
I have spent the last 24 years teaching, coaching and training teachers, and being an administrator. I taught 2nd-5th grades in Orange County, CA before starting a Fulbright Memorial Fellowship in Japan studying how they train and mentor teachers. I received my Ph.D. from Penn State University in 2006, in Curriculum and Instruction, hold a Masters degree from Pepperdine University in Educational Administration, and earned my BA from Cal State Fullerton. I love to learn and help others grow!
My Educational Philosophy
My educational philosophy stems from the belief that everyone can learn! I believe in helping each student use and develop a growth mindset to enable them to goal set, actively work toward reaching their goals, and then set new goals for themselves, continually striving to learn, grow, hone their skills, and develop new understandings. I encourage curiosity and use inquiry within the classroom to help students discover and explore all the while achieving beyond their full potential.
