    Welcome!

    Welcome to First Grade! I am excited to be your child's first grade teacher. It will be a tremendous year of growth and I am honored to be the facilitator. I am looking forward to working together and accomplishing great things.

    My Education and Professional Background

    This will be my 28th year of teaching and my 16th year at CTA-Independence. I spent my first twelve years teaching in the Kyrene School District teaching third and fourth grade. I spent 7 years teaching second grade at CTA. This will be my sixth year teaching first grade. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oneonta and a Masters of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Long Island University - C.W. Post. I received my Early Childhood Endorsement and my SEI Endorsement.

    My Educational Philosophy

    I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. It is my belief that every child is gifted in their own right and I seek to unleash their individual talents.
