  •   Hello Families,

Welcome to 6th grade!  We are so excited to be able to be creating lasting memories with your child this year.  We wanted to take a moment to share a little bit about ourselves  . . . before “Meet the Teacher.”

My name is Becky Babcock; this will be my 9th year at CTA Independence- five years working with 3rd grade and three with 6th grade. I love being able to work with 6th graders and prepare them for the next chapter of their lives: junior high and beyond.  I have three daughters who have developed, grown, and had fun learning at CTA and CUSD.  Shelby graduated from ASU in May, Hailey is a junior at Colorado School of Mines, and Reilly is a junior at Hamilton High School.

When I am not in my classroom, you can usually find me sitting in the bleachers at a volleyball match, spending time outdoors with my family or curled up with a good book.  Most recently, volleyball took us to Detroit, Michigan – very beautiful city with deep rooted history.   I am super excited to be able to work with Mrs. St. John and Mrs. Weber this year.  It will certainly be a year of celebrations, triumphs, and countless accomplishments for all.

Hello! My name is Tera St. John, and I am heading into my 11th year of teaching. I am an Arizona native, born and raised in the East Valley. Besides “Teacher”, my other treasured title is “Mommy”. I have a three-year-old son named Jude, and he is pure JOY! When I am not teaching, I can be found enjoying some of my favorite activities which include hiking, spending time with family and friends, and throwing on whichever superhero cape Jude asks me to wear while we “save the world”.

Professionally speaking, I have taught seven of my ten years in 6th grade, and I am so excited to be back and joining the CTA Independence team.  I firmly believe that all students are capable of great success, and one of my greatest joys in teaching is creating an atmosphere in which we all work together to see everyone achieve that success. I am looking forward to an INCREDIBLE school year!

Hi!  I am Amy Weber, and I am very excited to be teaching 6th grade math this year!  I’m an Arizona native: I grew up in Phoenix, went to college at both U of A (bachelors) and ASU (masters), and I’ve been a Chandler resident, along with my husband and four kids, for the past 14 years.  I previously taught high school math, and then chose to stay home with my children for many years, and now I’m thrilled to get back in the classroom.   I’m especially excited to be right here at CTA Independence!  All of my own kids went to school here, so I have seen firsthand how successful they can be when teachers set high standards, and the students strive and meet them.  And this is exactly why I love teaching.  I love to see students try something they have never done before, questioning themselves all along the way, but with plenty of guidance and encouragement, they realize that they can do anything.  It is such a joy and privilege to be the encourager and to get to witness their successes.  I look forward to meeting all of our 6th grade parents and students at Meet The Teacher!  See you then!

    Sincerely,

Mrs. Babcock, Mrs. St. John, and Mrs. Weber
