About
Schanaker...
My name is Rhonda Schanaker and I welcome you and your child to 2nd grade. CTA Independence is a wonderful place to learn and truly is a school family. We have an amazing staff, great students, a wonderful PTO, and many dedicated volunteers.
My Education and Professional Background
I earned my BA degree from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. This is my 28th year of teaching in Chandler. During the 80's I taught at Hartford Elementary School, then in the 90's I taught at Andersen Elementary School. I also home schooled my children for five years. I returned to CUSD in 2004, and now I am excited to be at CTA Independence teaching 2nd grade. This is my 12th year here, and I enjoy the CTA community so much. I have been married to my husband, Paul, for 42 years. We have three adult children who married three amazing in-law kids. These great couples have blessed us with 8 grandchildren. My daughter is a music teacher, my oldest son is an engineer, and my youngest son is an attorney. We enjoy spending as much time as possible with them.
My Educational Philosophy
I am intensely committed to doing all that it takes to help each student learn to their fullest potential. I realize I can't do this alone, that it is a group effort between parents, students, and me. My goal is to help students grow academically, socially, and become life-long learners. I love teaching, and am committed to helping each student become all he or she can be.
