    Welcome!

Do you see your child as a scientist? A politician? A passionate historian? A fact-checker? I do! Let's learn about ancient civilizations and the religions and cultures that shaped our world.

    My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from High School in 2000 from Lake Washington High School in Bellevue, Washington. I have a Bachelor's of Arts in Education from Arizona State University. I was a student orientation leader, a resident assistant, a student-athlete, was the elected official for the College of Education for ASU's Student Government and graduated with honors in December 2004. I also volunteered as a diving coach for the Sun Devil Divers program.

In 2009, with one infant in tow, I walked in the commencement ceremony in Flagstaff, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University. Adam and I welcomed our second child to our lives soon after in 2010.

I have been teaching in the Chandler Unified School District since January of 2005. My positions to date include: third grade classic, third grade traditional, 4th grade traditional, Technology Integration Specialist at Basha Elementary and sixth grade traditional with an emphasis in social science content.

    My Educational Philosophy

I believe in your child and high expectations. I believe in the power of yet. I believe in bad days and better tomorrows. I believe in hard questions and not always knowing the answers.

6th grade is a unique experience. At CTA-Independence these kids are "TOP DOGS" and are eager to enjoy the fruits of their labor having made it to the summit of elementary school. At the same time, these pre-teens are transitioning into young-adults, while they scramble to adjust to their changing bodies and emotions. Kids in 6th grade seek independence, responsibility and autonomy while needing reassurance, guidance and support. Although it's a roller-coaster of a year; I am always proud of the growth students show in 6th grade. It is my distinct pleasure to usher them into Junior High with the skills, attitude and leadership skills they need to succeed!

The Choice is Yours! Why Choose Chandler Traditional Academy - Independence Campus?

Not only do I teach at CTA-Independence, but I chose this site for both of my children! The educators, the support staff, administration and specialists go above and beyond to make this campus fun, challenging and rewarding for students.
