About
Herbert...
Hello! My name is Katie Herbert and I am honored to be your child's full-time Resource teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. We are going to have a productive, fun year and I can't wait to see the progress your child will make! A little about me: Arizona has been my home for 12 years, but I am originally from St. Louis. Go Cardinals! When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and going to the movies.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated with honors from Arizona State University in 2017 where I received a dual Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I am filled with Sun Devils pride! I am currently getting my Masters degree from Grand Canyon University in Autism Spectrum Disorders and will graduate at the end of this year. This will be my third year teaching K-6 Resource at CTA Independence. I am so thankful to be a part of the CTA Independence community! I am trained in the Wilson Reading Program, Zones of Regulation, Just Words, Visualizing and Verbalizing, and Touch Math. All of these programs are implemented throughout the day in my pull out groups.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure and caring environment in which to grow. I understand that your child will come to me with unique interests, experiences, and learning styles. It is my job to highlight those talents and support them in every aspect. I feel that learning is a lifelong process that involves much more than just academics. As a teacher, it is my goal to make sure that each of my students feel capable of success, loved, and valued. Every day, I strive to be a passionate teacher that can ignite a passion for learning in my students. I value parent involvement at every level and encourage you to collaborate with me in order to give your child the best learning experience!
