About Mr. Chris Aviles...
Welcome 8th grade class! This year is going to be an exciting one, and I cannot wait to grow in our understanding of the world around us. This year you will be challenged and encouraged to take risk in your learning. There will be hands on experiments and lots of new information that you will learn and be able to apply to your daily lives.
My Education and Professional Background
This is my fifth year teaching at Willis as a Science Teacher. Prior to taking my job here at Willis, I taught for five years in private schools back in California. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education from Biola University. After a few years of working, I went back and received my Master of Arts degree in Christian Leadership from GCU (Lopes Up), as well as receiving my M.Ed in Secondary Education from GCU. I guess you can say I truly love the classroom and learning.
When I am not in the classroom teaching, you can find me on the court teaching/coaching. I have a long coaching background with both girls/boys volleyball. I have coached two girls' seasons and two boys' seasons of volleyball here at Willis. As well as coaching two seasons of Wrestling. This has opened up the ability to connect with my students not only on the court but in the classroom as well.
My Educational Philosophy
I strongly believe in creating a safe and fun learning environment. Every child comes into the classroom with their own unique gifts and talents, and I believe it is my role at an Educator to incorporate these into the learning process.
