Divider and spacer Hamilton TheatreVisit Hamilton High WebsiteReport a Problem with Item A007292Hamilton High - (2018-2019) Hamilton Theatre won several state awards after their performance on May 24 at ASU Gammage. Our musical was in the top ten for the state for Best Musical, we won for Best Costumes, and Sophia Donnell won Best Lead Female. Sophia will go on to represent Arizona in New York City for the national competition, The Jimmy Awards. She won an all-expense paid trip for a training camp at NYU and then will perform in the same theatre as Lion King.

All nine passed the exam and verification observation/interview, earning their credential! Additionally, they collectively were awarded almost $4,000 in scholarships to cover the entire cost of the certification.

He has been extremely active on campus, participating in DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), Motivational Outreach Organization and FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) Fashion Club. Christian is a persevering entrepreneur and has already established a business where students can display and share their artwork on his online magazine. His company also sells clothing along with planning fashion shows across the valley. Christian is outgoing and conveys his astonishing personality on campus and with everyone he meets. The students utilized their coding and tech skills to create an app for symposium attendees. The Breaking Barriers for Excellence app will help the event run smoothly by providing easy access to information about schedules, speakers, and sessions.

Sam Perez was one of 15 students from Arizona who qualified for finals, was recognized for a top role-play, and placed in the top 10 overall in Professional Selling against over 200 other competitors from around the world. Winners will be announced after our performance at ASU Gammage on May 24. Dashaun Dunn and Sophia Donnell are also eligible to win an all-expense paid trip to represent Arizona at the National High School Theatre Awards in New York.

Thirteen Basha High students competed in Tucson, and they all worked hard for this event. Our winners were:

She is passionate about promoting agricultural literacy, and has worked tirelessly to meet her goals. Elery is an International Baccalaureate Career-Related Program Candidate, whose reflective project was titled: "Should a farmer put the health of his/her herd at risk to align with the public's perception of animal health?" Outside of school, she is a dedicated volunteer for multiple organizations. Her service activities have taken her as far as South Africa where she taught sustainable agriculture to adults and children in the community of Mahikeng. She has been an officer in the CHS FFA chapter for the past three years and serves as President this year. She placed 1st individually in Arizona for Floriculture and won a gold medal at Nationals. Some of her many talents include learning to raise prize-winning chickens in an urban backyard, teaching herself to make her own instruments in woods (a hammered dulcimer and a 26-string lap harp) and then teaching herself how to play them, and growing and nurturing as many as 32 houseplants at one time! In addition, she was a National Merit Commended Student and will have earned an outstanding 37 college credits by the time that she graduates. Nita is active in her community and has volunteered at Perry Public Library as well as Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. She is actively involved in drama and musical productions as well as software development programs. As a member of our top acting group, Nita has acted in both mainstage productions this year -- most recently starring as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing. On top of being immensely talented, Nita is kind, welcoming, and makes every person in the troupe feel valued. She is a wonderful person who will be missed when she graduates, but we are excited to see all of the amazing things she will accomplish! Nita will be attending ASU in the fall. Email this item to a friend Open just this item  Divider and spacer Spring Stock Market Game CompetitionVisit Hamilton High WebsiteReport a Problem with Item A007245Hamilton High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Leila Cook, Beth Goldsobel, Claire Mraz and Cianna San Nicolas who placed 2nd, and Darius Alston, Rey Lamostre, Mason Messenger and Trysten Zapata who placed 10th in the 2019 Spring Stock Market Game Competition. The Stock Market Game is sponsored by the SIFMA Foundation (Securities Industry Financial Markets Association), the Arizona Council on Economic Education and Charles Schwab. The state competition ran from February 4 - April 18, 2019. Students were given $100,000 to spend on their stock portfolios. Out of 300 participating teams of approximately 2,000 students competing in the high school division, our second place team earned an impressive 11.5% rate of return, and our 10th place team earned almost 9%. Every student placed either first or second in the state in their event category, earning a total of 11 GOLD medals and 1 SILVER medal! We will represent CUSD and AZFCCLA in Anaheim, CA at the FCCLA National Competition this summer. They traveled to Tucson to compete against other high schools across Arizona in the FCCLA State Leadership Conference and all earned GOLD Medals after earning the top scores in their competitive public speaking category division. Macy Parris presented about the importance of teaching young children and their families about proper nutritional habits and exercise to prevent the epidemic of childhood obesity in our country. Lauren "Wren" Leon, Aliyah Cortez and Paige Silva competed as a team about the importance of promoting language and literacy during the early childhood years to increase cognitive and brain development. Their hard work and dedication to their education should be recognized and applauded.

The alumni of this alliance include luminaries such as Andy Warhol, Richard Avedon, Idelle Weber, Ken Burns, Paul Chan and Kay Walkingstick. This year nearly 340,000 works were submitted. They won for their booth titled "The Science of Chickens." The students brought the chickens they raised from chicks, shared information with the public about the life cycle of chickens, chicken breeds, chicken anatomy, eggs and answered MANY questions from children and adults in the community. Students were very excited to be presented with a check by Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke and have the opportunity to meet Dr. Casteel. Congratulations to Ms. Alicia Gutierrez and her students: Ava Crawford, Esmerelda Nunez, Quincy Cowans, Addie Harrole, Piper Winiarski, Gabby Zwall, Nitara Sukumaran, Nicole Dawson, Jason Boileau and Jasmine Ferranti.  
Email this item to a friend Open just this item  Divider and spacer Basha High Early Childhood Education teamVisit Basha High WebsiteReport a Problem with Item A006869Basha High - (2018-2019) In March 2019, 38 middle and high school teams from across the nation were selected as winners of the seventh annual Lead2Feed Challenge earning grants for their team's nonprofit of choice. Through the Lead2Feed Student Leadership Program, students develop 21st century leadership skills and project based learning standards. Basha High Early Childhood Education students developed and implemented a service learning project to bring art lessons to over 400 students at Bologna Elementary every quarter during the 2018-2019 school year. The Lead2Feed Student Leadership Program awarded a $500 charitable grant based on the outstanding work of the Basha High students. Last week Basha High teacher Mrs. Alexander and her students presented the check to the principal, Dr. Padilla, and students at Bologna Elementary.

The ceremony was held at Rustler's Rooste at the Arizona Grand Resort and was attended by high school and college students as well as representatives from our state's printing industries. Cooper is the voice of Perry High School. He has broadcast and done play by play for over 15 live Perry athletic games. Cooper and his team have done more broadcast this year than any other time -- including events on and off campus.
