Regular Board Meetings
The Board generally holds a “formal” meeting at 7:00 pm on Wednesdays once or twice a month to take official action on items on the agenda. Although the formal agenda is subject to change, all changes to the agenda will be available at least 24 hours prior to the meeting. Visit the Governing Board page or call the Superintendent’s office at 480-812-7600 to confirm the date of the next meeting.
-
Consent Agenda
The Consent Agenda is made up of items recommended by district administration which require approval. This agenda is place as a separate item on the agenda. The items on the Consent Agenda usually are routine in nature and are voted on as a “package” in the interest of saving time on routine issues. However, any board member may remove an item from the Consent Agenda to be voted on separately.
-
Special Meetings
Special board meetings may be called if approval is needed on an item before the next regularly scheduled board meeting. A meeting notice is officially posted in compliance with the Arizona Open Meeting Law.
-
How Citizens can Participate
Citizens may appear before the governing board to express their views on any published agenda item or item not on the agenda. In compliance with the Arizona Open Meeting Law, the governing board may not discuss or take formal action on items that are not specifically identified on the agenda but may direct staff to respond to criticism, review the matter, or schedule the matter for further consideration at a later date. The Board President reserves the right to ensure that speakers present on topics that are within the board’s jurisdiction.
If you have an individual concern, you are encouraged to contact any governing board member or the superintendent’s office at 480-812-7600. We will do everything possible to be responsive to your individual requests.

Guidelines for being heard
State law allows governing bodies to set reasonable restrictions on public comment. Individuals wishing to submit a public comment must attend Governing Board meetings in person to participate in the Call to the Public.
For general matters and inquires in between Board meetings, you can also email ChandlerCommunicationOffice@cusd80.com. This inbox is monitored regularly. However, emailing the inbox is not considered submitting a public comment digitally.
Citizens can speak in-person on any item by completing a Request to Address the Governing Board card (blue) and submitting it to a board member or administrator prior to the meeting. Citizens may only speak when recognized by the board president or presiding officer of the meeting if the president is absent. Speakers are requested to limit their comments as outlined below or as designated by the board president:
- 1-10 speakers: 3 minutes each
- 11-20 speakers: 2 minutes each
- 21 or more speakers: 1 minute each
Citizens may not yield their time to another person. Please feel free to email our CUSD Governing Board Members at any time with your questions/concerns.
Additionally, speakers are required to follow proper decorum. Speakers must use appropriate language; foul and/or abusive language will not be tolerated. Any speaker failing to follow proper decorum, or any other guidelines may be asked to leave. Opposing viewpoints may be expressed by the citizens present. As a courtesy, citizens are reminded to address their comments to the Governing Board and not to the audience present. Please show respect for all speakers and avoid personal comments. Remember, the Board must hear both sides of an issue to make an informed decision.
Citizens may also express a position or opinion in writing by completing a Written Opinion/Position Card (white) and submitting it to a board member or administrator.
Community members who do not attend the meeting may share their thoughts with Board members at any time through email. Click here to email the CUSD Governing Board.
