ACPMS is committed to providing students with a variety of academic supports so our students can reach their academic potential in every content area. The Academic Lab is a support that we embed during the school day for every student at ACPMS. Three days a week, students receive 20 minutes of instruction on organizational strategies, study and test taking strategies, long and short term assignment planning, Cornell note taking, close reading practice and social emotional learning. These skills are critical for students to be successful and competitive in the 21st century. ACPMS does not leave things up to chance. This support ensures that every student at ACPMS has these skills as a part of their academic tool box. We use this period also to provide targeted intervention for any students during the conference days that are 30 minutes long. Below is a list of the activities/content covered in the lab.
