About
Graves...
Hi! My name is Kristina Graves. I was born in Washington but have lived here most of my life. I'm so glad to be here- I love Jacobson! I am excited to be a part of the Jacobson team and look forward to having another fantastic year!
My Education and Professional Background
I went to school in Mesa where I graduated from Westwood High School. I received my undergraduate degree in French from ASU. I later went back and got my teaching certificate in 1999 and have been teaching ever since. I have taught in Apache Junction, Gilbert, and Mesa before moving to Chandler. I have taught many things in my sixteen years of teaching. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade, K-8 ESL, 6th CATS, 2nd CATS and 3rd CATS. I have also taught French, Citizenship and Responsibility, and Language Arts at the junior high level. I was also lucky enough to teach English to adults.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe in maintaining a student-centered classroom where students learn to take responsibility for their own behaviors, actions and education by exploring, responding, recording, constructing, practicing and applying learned skills through developmentally appropriate processes and activities.
