  • School Closure:
    A letter from Mrs. Weed

    May 26, 2020

    Dear Parents,

Welcome to our last week of the 2019-2020 school year.  It has been quite an unexpected last quarter for our KGA community, our school district and our world.  Thank you for the patience, support, and partnerships that we forged together during this last quarter.  As the CUSD task force continues to meet and define next steps for the reopening of our schools, we will continue to communicate with our families throughout the summer break.

“Beginning June 1st, all students in grades K-8 will have access to MobyMax through their Clever account. MobyMax is a digital resource which is aligned to Arizona state standards and was designed to identify learning gaps. Students are encouraged to utilize MobyMax for enrichment opportunities in Reading, Math and other content areas. MobyMax will continue to be offered throughout the 2020-2021 school year for student use.”

Saying good-bye is always hard at KGA because we care so much about each other, build such a strong community together each year, and  take risks along the way.  But, this year is even more difficult as we do not get to have our usual send-off traditions; and, we are saying good-bye to some of our KGA Family!  A special good-bye to my partner, Mrs. Nusbaum.  I’m so proud of all that she has done for KGA from her years as a teacher leader at KGA to the amazing work she has done as our Dean of Students. I’m so excited for the partnership we have built and cannot wait to see the future possibilities for the Gifted Academies in CUSD!

Sixth Grade, we know you will always remember this unique year, and we don’t want to focus on what it could have been, but what is next in your journey!  We know that you will do amazing things in your life, and we hope you will reflect on your time at KGA that was filled with lasting friendships, special teachers, and memories.  Remember that you will always be a KGA Alumni, and you are welcome back to mentor and share in our annual traditions.

The KGA front office is open until June 15th, and we will be back in the office starting on July 8th.  We will send out class assignments the week of July 8th and supply lists during the week of July 15th.  We are looking forward to seeing all of you in one way or another in July for Meet The Team and Curriculum Night on July 20th and 21st.  The first day of school is scheduled for July 22nd. We wish all of you a wonderful summer!

    Sincerely,
    Lynn Weed

    Movement Monday

Get moving with your family! You can go on a walk, run, or play a game, like the floor is lava. Use your imagination to move around the inside or outside of your house!

    Racing Through Tuesday

If you enjoy racing games, this is your day to play one! Have a bike race, egg and spoon race, or create a scavenger hunt or obstacle course. Get creative with your family!

    Water Workout Wednesday

There’s no better way to beat the Arizona heat than with water! Play with a sprinkler, water balloons, or swim in a pool.

    Dance Party Thursday

Get together with your family or virtually with friends and have a dance party! You can play the limbo, use hula hoops, or just turn on some music and move!

    Stretch Into the Weekend

Let’s relax by stretching into the weekend! Do some yoga, meditate, or just stretch your muscles. After moving so much this week, you’ll need it!

  • Visiting KGA?

All parents and guests visiting our campus must check in at the office and wear a visitor name tag.  For the safety of your children, KGA staff will greet or question adults who are not wearing a visitor name tag, and subsequently make sure they check in at the office.
