Basha High School hosts Bashas' Guinness World Record breaker
JULY 12, 2022
COMMUNITY EDUCATION NEWS — Basha High School’s gymnasium was host to Bashas’ Family of Stores Guinness World Record attempt earlier today.
To kick off their 90th anniversary celebration, Bashas’ attempted to break a Guinness World Record. At select Bashas’ locations in Arizona, the bakery team cut, fried, and packaged donuts in preparation for their world record attempt on July 11th, 2022. The next day, they carefully transported the donuts over to Basha High School’s gymnasium and attempted to break the Guinness World Records title for the largest doughnut mosaic (logo). Their goal was to use more than 14,000 doughnuts to assemble a 900-square-foot mosaic of their 90th anniversary logo. The previous record for the largest doughnut mosaic (logo) was accomplished in January of 2012. This record consisted of 7,040 donuts and was 512 square feet in size.
After many long hours prepping the doughnuts and putting them into place, Bashas’ staff waited for the evaluation from the Guinness Book of World Records Official Adjudicator. After some time of careful evaluation and measurement, the Official Adjudicator announced the Bashas’ logo was clear and recognizable and it was larger in size than the previous recordholder’s mosaic. Bashas’ now holds the Guinness World Record for the largest doughnut mosaic (logo). Surpassing their original plan, Bashas’ doughnut mosaic in the shape of their 90th anniversary logo measured 902-square-feet.
“Partnering with Basha High School has been a great compliment to kick off our 90th anniversary [celebration]. The Basha name is synonymous with Arizona and Chandler, so when we thought about a partner for this record-breaking attempt, Basha High School was our first thought,” explained Ashley Shick, director of communications and public affairs at Bashas’ Family of Stores. “Everyone at the facility has been incredible and wonderful to work with and we’re excited about future partnerships.”
In addition to breaking a world record, Bashas’ donated $2,500 to Basha High School as a symbol of gratitude for their cooperation and support throughout the event.
