COMMUNITY EDUCATION NEWS —  On Monday, June 19 the Chandler Unified School District's (CUSD) Crime Lab Summer Academy Elementary Enrichment class kicked off the last week of the course with a visit from the Chandler Police Department.

Crime Lab is a Summer Academy Elementary Enrichment course that is designed for students entering 4th-6th grade in the 2023-2024 school year. In this particular course, students get the chance to be detectives by investigating mysteries. They use real-life applications of the scientific inquiry process to solve fake crimes.
An officer from the Chandler Police Department visited the Crime Lab class to talk to students about his own experiences in the world of investigation. Bringing in a police officer added excitement to the course as children can relate what they have learned in the classroom to real world jobs and experiences. We are proud to partner with the Chandler Police Department on this event.

This elementary enrichment course is just one of 20 summer enrichment classes that allows students to continue learning in summer with the CUSD Community Education department. These programs, in addition to select vendor-led Club CUSD courses, were available for free for students due to a summer enrichment grant through the Arizona Governor’s Office and Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds by the Arizona Department of Education.
