Sanborn Elementary to add Preschool in January

COMMUNITY EDUCATION NEWS — Sanborn Elementary School is adding one licensed Community Preschool classroom to their campus in January. The first day of school for students will be January 17, 2023.  

“We are excited to offer an additional preschool option for CUSD families in January. Sanborn Elementary is one of many great options in our district with curriculum designed to support our youngest learners academically and functionally,” stated Preschool Activity Coordinator, Marissa Diaz. CUSD Community Education designs Preschool with the district’s youngest learners in mind. Students will learn developmentally appropriate academic curriculum designed to strengthen literacy, STEM, social-emotional, communication, and physical skills. More than just a focus on building an academic base, CUSD Preschool curriculum is structured to help children develop socially and learn to interact with others.

Preschool curriculum will align with the other Preschool programs in the Chandler Unified School District (CUSD). It will be licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services and taught by certified Early Childhood Education teachers. Daily meal and snacks are included for students.

“I am excited to welcome our preschool friends to Sanborn because our school culture is warm, inviting, and diverse,” explained Adam Mccoy, principal of Sanborn Elementary School. “I’m confident that students will be provided classroom structure, positive peer role models from our Kindergarten students that are in the same wing, and be exposed to strong foundational academic skills that establish a life-long love of learning.”

Sanborn Elementary School Preschool will run 8a.m.-2:30pm Monday through Friday. For an additional fee, extended care options are available for families who need care before and/or after the regular school day. Extended care will run from 7-8a.m. and from school dismissal to 5:30pm.

To be eligible to start Preschool at Sanborn in January, students must be potty-trained and have turned 3-years-old as of August 31, 2022.
