Weinberg Gifted Academy to add Pre-K in 2023-2024

COMMUNITY EDUCATION NEWS — Weinberg Gifted Academy will welcome two licensed Community Pre-K classrooms to their campus in the 2023-2024 school year. With this new addition to Weinberg, the school will teach Pre-K-6 graders.

Though Pre-K will be on campus at Weinberg Gifted Academy, the Pre-K program will not contain gifted academy coursework. Instead, Pre-K standards will align with the Pre-K programs in the Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) with a focus on preparing students for kindergarten. These classrooms will be licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services.

“We are excited to add two Pre-K classrooms to our CUSD family at Weinberg Gifted Academy,” announced Marissa Diaz, preschool activity coordinator. “Our Pre-K program nurtures each child by providing learning experiences that foster social, physical, emotional, cognitive, and language development in a caring and exciting environment. This program emphasizes teaching foundational skills that will help prepare your child for a successful transition into kindergarten. Weinberg is one of many great options in our district.”

Classes will be taught by certified Early Childhood Education teachers. Daily meals and snacks are included for Pre-K students.

Weinberg Gifted Academy Pre-K will run 8a.m.-2:30pm Monday through Friday. For an additional fee, extended care options are available for families who need care before and/or after the regular school day. Extended care will run from 7-8a.m. and from school dismissal to 5:30pm.

Students must be potty-trained and 4-years-old by August 31, 2023. Attending Weinberg Gifted Academy as a Pre-K student does not ensure admittance into the gifted program (K-6) at Weinberg Gifted Academy after the student has finished Pre-K.
