Our musical was in the top ten for the state for Best Musical, we won for Best Costumes, and Sophia Donnell won Best Lead Female. Sophia will go on to represent Arizona in New York City for the national competition, The Jimmy Awards. She won an all-expense paid trip for a training camp at NYU and then will perform in the same theatre as Lion King.

Students researched an organization where they could complete at least five hours of service. The project culminated in a reflection essay and poster that highlighted their experience.

Kindergarten students and teachers participated in a project-based learning activity where they discussed WHY they need a new, better-designed playground and HOW it should look. Students and staff used thinking maps to process their ideas and create ideas for a new, safe playground. Students wrote letters and created videos that went to district office officials and school principal, Ms. Wolf. These kindergarten leaders found out this month the project was a success! Jacobson will get a new north-side playground this summer!

They earned a total of 37 gold (must have scored in the 95th percentile or higher in nation), 50 silver (must have scored between the 94th -85th percentile in nation) and 76 bronze medals (must have scored between 84th -75th percentile in nation) along with over 50 percent of the students earning honorable mentions. "Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious," said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, "because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 146,000 students participating in 2019." Spanish teachers, Jennifer Betlach, Timothy Cox, Diane Loff, Dana Olidan, and Heather Orr taught these students. For the past two years, CTA Independence National Elementary Honor Society students have donated gift cards to help homeless and underprivileged students and families at Hamilton.

The first pitch was not thrown until 10:39 p.m. by freshman pitcher Logan Saloman. The last was thrown at 12:30 a.m. It was the third state title in four years and the seventh overall for the Huskies.

The students learned how to sew sling backpacks and worked to fill them with toiletries. These were donated to Hamilton High School to help CUSD students in need. Rajani Rastogi, a social worker for the district, was a guest speaker in one class and invited students to Hamilton High to see how the district manages supplies for underprivileged families. While at Hamilton, Mrs. Wright's class packed 90 supply bags for families, toured the high school and spoke with National Honor Society and Huskies Helping Huskies students, as well as attending a mindfulness session.
