Welcome to ACP Oakland! We are the Knights! This is my 8th year at ACP Oakland and I love it. I am a Colorado native; oh, how I miss the mountains and the clouds. I am married and have two amazing kids, one of whom is a Knight. We spend our family time hanging out on the baseball diamond, watching movies, and playing with our goofy dogs and cat. Some fun facts about me: I have known my husband since the 3rd grade, I have two different colored eyes, I have traveled to 25 different countries, I taught overseas, and I am a Broncos fan.
Educational and Professional Background
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, an ESL endorsement, and am highly qualified in middle school English Language Arts. I earned my Master's Degree in Education: School Counseling. This is my 22nd year in education, eleven as a classroom teacher and eleven as a school counselor. I have worked with students of all ages, from Pre K to high school seniors, but most of my experience has been in the middle school setting.
Middle School can be quite challenging, stressful, and also exciting. Adolescents are learning more about their identity, exploring a variety of interests, and seeking approval from friends more often than parents. Students grow so much academically, physically, and mentally during the 2-3 years they are with us. My role as their counselor is to help enhance the learning process and promote academic, career, and social/emotional development. I am here to support students reach their potential.
