Welcome! My name is Paul Olsen. I am excited to have to opportunity to work with you this year. In our chemistry course will be studying matter in its various forms. Not only are we going to learn what occurs in chemistry, we are going to inquire and discover through the scientific method why these events occur. So.....be prepared to work and think. GO BEARS!
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Exercise Science and worked for more than a decade in the field of physical therapy. I found the most enjoyable part of my work was being able to teach the patients. So I headed back to school. I completed a post-baccalaureate in secondary education and then earned my Masters Degree in Curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix. I have enjoyed teaching classes in Investigative Science, Biology and Anatomy/Physiology. I’m lucky to have been able to teach Chemistry for more than a decade now, and I have enjoyed every minute.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe in the worth and value of every student. It is my goal as an educator to develop a relationship of trust with my students. My focus each day is to provide a safe and equitable learning environment in which each student is challenged and engaged. Each new day should bring an opportunity for students to develop their independence, love of learning and problem solving skills.
