I am from Manhattan, New York. After visiting Arizona in the Spring of 2001, I fell in love with the weather. I moved here that summer. I am the proud mom of Timothy and Thomas. In my spare time I enjoy being with my family and friends, reading, scrapbooking, rollerblading and shopping.
My Education and Professional Background
I have a B.A. in Communications and Spanish from Manhattan College and an M.S in Mathematics Education from Lehman College. I taught math in middle school for seventeen years. I taught for seven years in the Bronx, NY. Then I moved to Arizona, where I have been teaching for the last fourteen years. This is my fifth year at Basha High School.
My Educational Philosophy
Anyone can learn anything. We are all born with the potential to learn and grow in intelligence. We need to evaluate ourselves by how much we have grown than by what we know. Students as well as teachers should take risks in learning something new. Anything I've ever done that ultimately was worthwhile initially scared me to death. Betty Bender
