2021-2022 applicants, applications are due on or before March 5th, 2021. National Honor Society membership is by invitation only. To qualify for membership, you must first maintain a 3.8 weighted minimum cumulative GPA for your first three semesters at Basha. Invitations will go out in late January or early February each school year. Only sophomores and juniors are eligible for application to NHS, as seniors would not be able to participate since induction is in the spring and graduation is in May or early June.
In 2021, invitations to apply for membership will be distributed during February. This does not automatically qualify a student to be a part of National Honor Society. There is an application process that takes place during 3rd quarter with a faculty council overseeing the selection process.
Upon invitation to apply, applicants will receive a template that they may use to prepare for their application.
The application asks that each applicant:
- Has demonstrated leadership skills and qualities.
- Has demonstrated service to school and community.
- Has demonstrated positive, mature and responsible character.
- Has shown involvement in school and community activities
- Uses proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation and all expectations of formal communication
A National Honor Society Faculty Council meets after receipt of all applications to review candidates and decide on inductees. This council is made up of 5 faculty members from various departments. At this time, we do not have a cap on how many members we invite to join.
Induction ceremony takes place in the spring. Date and time are TBD.
