Welcome!
¡Bienvenidos! Welcome to Spanish 1 and ELD! I am so elated to see you make growth and progress throughout the school year as you become bilingual (or trilingual)! It will take dedication, effort, hard work, and above all: PRACTICE! I'm looking forward to a memorable year!
My Education and Professional Background
I am a native Arizonan, growing up in the beautiful scenic Old Pueblo, otherwise known as Tucson. I graduated with a Bachelors in Elementary Education, with a focus on Bilingual Education from the University of Arizona in 2000. I later graduated in 2006, from the same amazing university, with a Masters in Language, Reading, and Culture. Bear Down, Wildcats! I have been an educator since the year 2000, with many different grade levels. This has helped to widen my experience and perspective as an educator. In Tucson, and Chandler, I have taught kindergarten, second-fifth grades, a kindergarten-sixth grade English Language Learner pull-out in the Kyrene District, and sixth-eighth grade Spanish in Tempe. I wanted a change, and that's what landed me in Perry High School and am loving every minute of it!
My Educational Philosophy
I am a strong believer in the power of having a Growth Mindset when learning anything NEW in life. Making mistakes is natural, and learning and growing from them is what makes a person successful. Putting forth effort, dedication, and not giving up are essential! Every student is capable and has potential to do their best! I will be here to guide you, support you, and be your biggest cheerleader!
