• Head coach Damien Tippett

The 2022 season marked Damien Tippett’s 14th year in the PHS baseball program and seventh as its varsity head coach. Since taking over the program in 2016, the Pumas have reached the class 6A playoffs seven times (there were no playoffs in 2020), reached the semifinals once, the quarterfinals twice, and have accumulated a 103-77-2 record (11-9 post-season record), including a tournament championship in the 2016 Bob Everett Classic and a championship game appearance in the 2017 Boras Classic. During that same time, 47 Pumas have gone on to play at the collegiate level, and three have been drafted into professional baseball. In 2016, Tippett was named the Division-I, Section I Coach of the Year by his peers.

Prior to becoming head coach, Tippett served under original Perry head coach Shane Hilstrom as his varsity pitching coach (2009-15), and JV head coach (2008). Before coming to PHS he was the varsity outfield and catching coach at Cienega High School for Todd Welch (2005-07), and the catching coach at McClintock High School for Harrold Bull (2003-04).

As a player, Tippett played for Jeremiah Robbins at Southwestern Oregon Community College. In addition to his 19 years of high school baseball coaching experience, Tippett has also coached in the Arizona Summer Colligate League and the Arizona Diamondbacks Baseball Academy, and he spends a portion of his summers working for USA Baseball.
