Perry High - (2019-2020) Congratulations to Perry High DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) for winning first place in the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge! The JA Student Stock Market Challenge is a live stock market simulation, featuring teams of high school students who compete to see who can accumulate the highest possible net worth in their investment portfolio. The exciting, fast-paced event offers a taste of what it's like to build a portfolio, manage risk, and experience its performance in a compressed period of time. Approximately 430 students (86 teams, five students per team) from around 20 valley high schools experienced the thrill of the trading floor at Junior Achievement's 2019 Stock Market Challenge Event. Perry High - (2019-2020) Perry's Concolor Yearbook staff won First Place in General Excellence at the Arizona Interscholastic Press Association's Fall Convention for their 2019 book But Who's Counting? Individual staffers also won awards for their photography and writing. Sydney Carlson & Layla Mushtaq, Sydnee Milkovic & Lauryn Terry, and Sophia Vojacek & Amanda Romano won Honorable Mention for Clubs, Academics and Sports, respectively. Abby Kozel & Alexa Guy won Excellent in Sidebar Writing for their Student Life Stats. Ashley Johnston & Layla Mushtaq won Superior for Student Life. And Sydnee Milkovic won Superior in Featured Photo for Combustion Experiment.
Perry High - (2019-2020) Perry High students Joyce Poon, Bailee Lewis, and Holly Hames in Caryn Butler's graphic design program each received a $750 cash scholarship from the Graphic Communications Education Foundation. Each plans to continue their education in the Visual Graphic Communications field. The money can be used for tuition, books, or graphic tools such as a laptop, drawing or camera equipment. Perry High - (2019-2020) Perry High School "Puma Diner" is up and running. It was created and run by Perry students to work on a variety of job skills while feeding the Puma Nation.
Perry High - (2019-2020) Sixteen Perry company and advanced dancers were chosen to perform at the University of Arizona's Arizona Jazz Dance Showcase Invitational Concert.

Perry High - (2019-2020) Congratulations to Tatum Stall who was named the MVP of the Westwood Tournament of Champions Volleyball Tournament this weekend. Perry High won the tournament which featured 36 of the top teams in the state.
Perry High - (2019-2020) Dr. Darren Johnson's Sports Medicine students participated in a program called "Stop the Bleed" in partnership with Dignity Health. The program teaches students to tie a tourniquet, recognize arterial bleeds and other lacerations, stuff deep puncture wounds, and apply direct pressure to any bleeding. It includes vocabulary, explanation of wounds, pictures, and then a hands-on session. Congratulations to all students who completed the training and earned "Stop the Bleed" certification.
Perry High - (2019-2020) Dr. Darren Johnson's and Rebecca Goetz's Sports Medicine students recently participated in CPR training in partnership with Dignity Health and earned their CPR certification.
Perry High - (2019-2020) The Perry High Teenage Republican Club (TARs) organized the 9/11: Never Forget Project memorial on campus. They planted over 1,000 flags to commemorate the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and honor the American victims, first responders and families affected.
Perry High - (2019-2020) The Social Studies department at Perry High School is inaugurating a chapter of the Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society. Its namesake is John Prothro whose dedication to teaching social studies has impacted countless students over his 30+ years in the classroom. Advisors for the new honor society are Danielle Platt and Taryn Randall.
Perry High - (2019-2020) Drawing and Painting 3 students Autumn Carrol and all students in Drawing 3 ( third semester of art class ) painted a mixed media project done in Mrs. DeCristofaro's class.
Perry High - (2019-2020) Perry Badminton competed in the 16-team Highland Flying Feathers Tournament over the 3-day Labor Day weekend. Perry Badminton won the tournament for the 4th time in a row, and Nikhita Jayaraj was voted to the All-Tournament Team.
Perry High - (2019-2020) Perry High School DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) Officers participated in the DECA Officer Leadership Camp at Lost Canyon in Williams, AZ in August.

Perry High - (2019-2020) Perry High math teacher Eric Rygiel organized a tutoring event for Algebra I students with the LINK Crew. The event was a huge success and had a turnout of more than 60 students.

Perry High - (2018-2019) Perry High junior Austin Woodman coordinated an Eagle Scout project with Troup 886 to refill the emergency buckets at CTA Freedom. Forty-five buckets were replenished with fresh supplies in case of emergency.
Perry High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Principal Dan Serrano for being named the National Association of Secondary Schools Principal's Arizona Principal of the Year! He will be honored June 10 at the Arizona Association of School Administrators Conference in Tucson.
Perry High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Riley McKenna, Emily Pearce, and Ashton Blake who were among 16 recipients of the "Friends of the Library" Scholarship awards on May 4 at the Southeast Regional Library. The students were awarded $1,000 each to put toward furthering their education.
Perry High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to principal Dan Serrano who was named the Horace Mann Ruler of the Month in April.
Perry High - (2018-2019) Perry DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) students stood out at the International competition in Orlando with 22,000 other DECA members from around the world. Paige Adams, Emily Asanagasti and CJ Parisian helped with an international officer campaign earning high praise and special praise was given to CJ for being team captain. CJ also was awarded a $1,000 AZ DECA scholarship! The Puma Den again earned International Gold Certification for retail operations. Amber Adams (Arizona DECA State Officer) finished in the top 20% for her event. And finally, Yejin Sohn earn a medal for finishing in the top 10% for her event test and finished in the top 20% overall.
Perry High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Perry students McKenna Branting, Ashley Greenlee, Brennan Acevedo and Christopher Cutruzzula who were honored at the first-ever Arizona STEM Signing Day held on April 30. Boeing recognized excelling STEM talent at the event in front of Boeing corporate leaders, local elected officials and community partners, including the Mayor of Mesa and the Arizona Board of Regents. Just like Signing Day for athletes, the inaugural Arizona STEM Signing Day celebrates students across the state as they make their commitments to education programs focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Perry High - (2018-2019) Perry world language students were inducted into the Spanish, French and German Honor Societies on Tuesday, April 30. These students received their certificates and honor cords. Senora Nicole Lorgan and Senora Norma Rios presented Jaycee Romanousky a Spanish AP 6 senior with the Award of Premier Honor Society Student of Spanish.
Perry High - (2018-2019) Students in Caryn Butler's graphic design classes received their first Gold Chapter of Distinction Award at the Arizona State Championships for SkillsUSA. Additionally, Michael Chuong won the gold medal in the Advertising Design competition in a field of 45 competitors from across the state. CTE Programs

Perry High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Loralli Johnson is in the top 5% of the senior class, Student Government Historian, and a member of the Interact Club. Loralli is an accomplished artist who takes AP Studio Art. She placed 1st in the CUSD Art Competition in the Drawing category. Perry High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Emma Jennings from Perry High who was awarded the following scholarships from the Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) National Office:
- A whopping $27,724,366 in scholarships!
- 7,527 hours of college credit (Dual Credit), and
- 15,037 hours of service learning

Perry High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Aidan Powers is a STEM Scholar and ranks in top 15% of his Senior class. Aidan won 1st place at the HISEF (Hamilton Invitational Science and Engineering Fair) competition for his project How to build a ground effect vehicle. He also won Best of Fair in Engineering and Mechanics. Aidan is a member of Marching Band and Math Club. He plans on attending Purdue University where he will major in Aerospace Engineering. Perry High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Benjamin Bousquet is a STEM Scholar and ranks in top 10% of the Senior Class. Ben is the first student from Perry High School who will also graduate with his AS (Associates of Science) Degree from CGCC. He is a member of the CPU Club, German Club and German Honor Society. Perry High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Hayden Patterson participated in Varsity Football, Varsity Track and Field, and Varsity Wrestling. Hayden is one of the top discus throwers on the Varsity Track and Field team, with hopes of qualifying for the state competition. Hayden has volunteered his time at Feed My Starving Children and helped with the veteran recognition night. Perry High - (2018-2019) The National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) inducted eight members from Perry Dance Program. Congratulations to:

- Fox Restaurant Concepts Industry Award - Employment, Job Training Program, $1,000.00 (locations in AZ and CA).
Perry High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Perry Theatre. After competing in the Arizona Thespian Festival and the Central Arizona Festival for Theatre, Perry won the state championship! The AIA Central Region Championship for the school year is determined by point accumulation throughout the year from State and Regional competitions.
Honors include the 2018-2019 State All-Star Ranking
, All-State School (top ranked program in the state for participation in Theatre Events within Arizona)
and Gold Honor Troupe.
Perry High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Cooper Richter is a three year member of the Badminton team and a CTE Multimedia Broadcasting student. Cooper is the voice of Perry High School. He has broadcast and done play by play for over 15 live Perry athletic games. Cooper and his team have done more broadcast this year than any other time -- including events on and off campus. Cooper started Perry Live 365 and has won a Rocky Mountain Emmy for his documentary he produced. Cooper plans on attending CGCC and then ASU, majoring in Business Marketing. Perry High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Madison Beasley was a four year member of the Varsity Volleyball Team as a setter, 1st team All Premier Region and 1st team All State. Madison had over 1,000 assists in her career and holds the school record for highest setting percentage in a single game. Madison is a member of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and is a Scholar Athlete. Perry High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Elizabeth LaBate is in the STEM Diploma program and top 5% of the Senior class. Elizabeth is one of the few girls who earned the Girl Scouts Gold Award, in recognition for her "Pick Up Your Planet" campaign. Elizabeth created a website and campaign, encouraging people to pick up litter. Her project reached around the world, including 16 countries! Elizabeth was also a Flower Girl with the Chandler Service Club. She plans on attending the University of Arizona where she will major in Bio Chemistry. Perry High Seniors Highlights
Perry High - (2018-2019) On Friday, April 5, six students from Mrs. Butler's Graphic Design 2 and 3 classes won eight awards at the Western States Printing Alliance's Print Excellence Awards. The ceremony was held at Rustler's Rooste at the Arizona Grand Resort and was attended by high school and college students as well as representatives from our state's printing industries. Perry High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Saige Stutz is in the top 10% of her Senior class and is a four year starting pitcher on Perry's Varsity softball team. Saige won single sport female athlete of the year her Freshman and Sophomore years, and multi-sport female athlete her Junior year. Saige was AIA All Region 1st team, All CUSD 1st team, Perry Softball Defensive Player of The Year, Team Captain the last two years and has earned an Academic Letter the last four years. Perry High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Perry High Advanced Dance, winning a rating of Distinction and Superior in Performance at the Arizona High School Dance Festival 2019 in March.
Perry High - (2018-2019) Perry High School received the Arizona Thespian's High School Theatre Program ranking of All-State Superior. Of all the schools that are a part of Arizona Thespians (more than 100), Perry High was one of only four theatre programs to obtain this ranking.
Perry High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Shaylynn Uyeshiro was a member of Perry girls soccer team. Shaylynn helped the Perry girls soccer team to back-back state runner up finishes. Shaylynn was 1st team All Region, 2nd team All 6A Conference and earned an academic letter all 4 years. Shaylynn is a member of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), Athletic Council, Link Crew and was Chemistry Student of the Year as a Junior. Perry High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Brayden Rohme was a three year varsity Football player helping Perry to back-back state runner-up finishes. Brayden was team captain, a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete and won the Frank Kush Offensive Lineman of the year for Arizona.
