The opportunity to teach at Santan Junior High is an honor. I do not take this responsibility lightly as it is a springboard for our 7th and 8th graders into high school.
My Education and Professional Background
I am originally from a small Michigan town called Schoolcraft where I graduated from High School in 1994. After working in the automotive industry for roughly 8 years, I decided to pursue other potential career options. A move to Tucson, Arizona yielded an undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona with a Bachelors in History. After working for the Pima County Health Department as a school health coordinator, I wanted to utilize my undergraduate knowledge and passion of working alongside intellectually developing students. In May 2019, I completed The Arizona State University's Mary Lou Fulton Teacher's College Certification Program. In addition to student teaching at Santan 2019, I am now ready and equipped to teach our middle school students at this amazing school.
My Educational Philosophy
My philosophy, with regard to education, is to bring an open and willing mindset, a positive attitude, and high expectations to the classroom each day. Students, as well as the community, can be led by example as long as that example offers consistency, integrity, and confidence. My greatest hope is that I can ultimately inspire and encourage such traits in my students for their ultimate roles as civically responsible leaders.
