About
Frank...
Welcome to 7th and 8th Grade Language Arts!
My Education and Professional Background
I am a graduate of Queens College, City University of New York, where I studied Education and Sociology for my undergraduate degree, as well as earned a Master's in Reading Education. I have taught in both inner-city and suburban districts in both New York and Arizona, ranging from regular classroom format, inclusion, and gifted education. I began teaching elementary school in 1996, and am excited to be teaching my passion area in junior high school!
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that the best learning occurs when students are excited about and engaged in what is to be presented. In order to be successful, it helps when students feel valued and understood. I do my best to make the classroom a fun, warm, and interesting place, where students can feel safe and comfortable expressing their opinions and being the best versions of themselves. The school experience goes beyond the mere transfer of information; it also includes learning to respect oneself and others, as well as becoming accustomed to being flexible and trying new things. My goal is for students to be excited to come to school each day, as well as to take pride in their work, be dedicated to consistently doing their best, and always look for ways to improve themselves in all areas.
