Welcome Stormers and Physical Education students. I am looking forward to another exciting year here at Santan filled with lots of fun activities and sports to enhance your healthy lifestyle.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Kinesiology and earned my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Arizona University. I began my teaching and coaching career at Southside Middle School in San Antonio, Texas where I coached girl's volleyball, basketball and softball. I then went on to be the Head Softball and J.V. girl's basketball coach at Round Rock High School until 2001 when I moved here to Arizona. I have been teaching Physical Education and coaching a variety of sports here at Santan Jr. High since 2002.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe the purpose of physical education is to teach the whole student, not just their body and movement. I also believe that Physical education provides the opportunity to teach students about movement, strategies, teamwork, problem solving and health related fitness. My personal goal for my classroom is to challenge my students and watch them grow to their full potential in the area of developing a healthy lifestyle.
