    Congratulations to the Perry Track & Field team on their first 2024 Season invitational! The Perry girls finished 4th and the boys finished 5th out of 33 teams at the Richard Thompson South Mountain Classic. 
     
    Top performances on the boys' side included a 1st place finish in the Shot Put by Chris Kalu, 3rd place in the Javelin by Hayden Moon, 3rd place in the Long Jump by Oluwatoni Adigun, and a 3rd place finish in the Pole Vault by Shane Ellard with a new school record of 14’ 9”!!
     
    On the girls' side, the distance team had some great finishes, with Sara Jones coming in 2nd in the 800m & 3rd in the 1600m, and Malia Salcido taking 2nd in the 3200m. Kate Farley took 3rd for the team in High Jump.
     
    Overall, the team saw 27 new individual P.R.'s set at the South Mountain Classic. Congrats to all the competitors!

    Congratulations to the Track & Field Team for their performances at the Aztec Invitational. The boys came in 5th, and the girls came in 6th.
     
    Jaymis Brown broke the school record in the Long Jump at 22’ 1.5” (3rd place) and Shane Ellard broke his own school record in the Pole Vault at 15' (2nd place). Other notable performances go to Sara Jones for taking 1st in the 800m and 3rd in the 3200, Danica Torres 3rd in the 800m, Emma LeSueur 3rd in the 400m, Chris Kalu 2nd in the shot put, Hayden Moon 3rd in the Javelin, and the boys 4x800m consisting of Benett Kaup, Roan Milner, Trevor Munoz, and Grant Bergeson finished in 2nd.

    Congratulations to the athletes who competed at the Red Mountain Rampage. It was a large meet with two full sessions - seeded and elite - with over 80 Perry athletes competing! Both the girl's and boy's teams came in 13th overall in the elite sessions. Distance led the girl's team in the 3200m with 10 points scored from Malia Salcido and 6 points from Ava Withem. Maclane Clark scored 8 points in the 100 Hurdles & 300 Hurdles. Sydney Smith scored 4 points and Emma LeSueur scored 2 points in the 400m. Linnea Helterbran brought in 1 point in the Shot Put. On the boy's side, throws led the team with 8 points from Chris Kalu in Shot Put, plus 4 points from Hayden Moon and 3 points from John Cleary in the Javelin. Boys Distance also scored for the team, with 5 points from Bennett Kaup in the 800m, and 2 points from Grant Bergeson in the 1600m.     The 84th Annual Chandler Rotary Invitational sponsored by NIKE ran for two days March 22 & 23, 2024. This is the largest meet contested in Arizona every year and has become recognized as one of the nation’s best, attracting top athletes from all over the Southwest! Perry entered over 40 athletes in the three competition sessions - the open, the seeded, and the elite. Highlights for the girl's team were in the elite distance session with Sara Jones placing 6th in the 1600m and Danica Torres placing 12th in the 800m. In the seeded session, Maclane Clark placed 1st in the 100m Hurdles. For the boy’s team, the elite session brought some great performances, with Chris Kalu placing 3rd in the Shot Put, Toni Adigun 5th in long Jump, Pierre Foster 7th in High Jump, and Shane Ellard 9th in the Pole Vault. In the seeded session, Bennet Kaup placed 1st in the 800m race, and Hayden Moon broke the Perry school record in the Javelin with a 169’ 9” throw! Congratulations to all of the athletes who competed.

    The Perry High School Track Team brought many first-time invitational competitors to the Becky Matthews Invitational at Desert Vista High School on March 30, 2024. In the Freshman/Sophomore division, the Perry boy's team came in 14th and the girl's team came in 12th. In the Varsity division, Jaymis Brown broke his own Long Jump record at 23’ 10”, while Hayden Moon for Javelin and Chris Kalu for Shot Put both came in 2nd! In the relays, the boys 4x100 placed 3rd while the girls 4x400 came in 2nd. Only 3 more team-scoring meets before the Division I State Championships!!

    Congratulations to both the boys and the girls teams for awesome performances at the Pioneer Invitational! The boys team came in 1st and the girls team came in 2nd overall at the meet. 
     
    Jaymis Brown had a clean sweep placing 1st in all three of his events - Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump - bringing in 30 points for the team! Chris Kalu also brought in 10 points placing 1st in the Shot Put. Jumps & Throws continued to lead the men’s team with Toni Adigun bringing in 11 points with 2nd in the Triple Jump and 6th in the Long Jump, Pierre Foster placing 3rd in High Jump, and Javelin bringing in 15.5 points for the team with Hayden Moon in 3rd and John Cleary in 4th. Other notable performances were Grant Bergeson bringing home 2nd in the 800m, Sage Spilsbury 4th in the 400m, and Shane Ellard 3rd in Pole Vault.
     
    Girls distance brought in 55 points of the 93.5 total for the girls team in their 4 events of the 800m, 4x800m, 1600m, and 3200m. Highlights were Danica Torres placing 1st and Malia Salcido placing 3rd in the 1600m, with Sara Jones placing 1st, Danica Torres 3rd, and Malia Salcido 6th in the 800m, Ava Withem placed 2nd in the 3200m, and the 4x800 team placed 3rd in the Relay. Maclane Clark brought in 11 points for the team placing 3rd in 100m Hurdles and 4th in 300m Hurdles, while in throws Linnea Helterbran brought in 8 points with a 4th place finish in Discus and a 6th place spot in Shot Put. Other top performances were Emma LeSueur placing 3rd in the 400m, and the 4x100 relay team placing 4th. Next up the fun and competitive Hohokam meet!
     
     
     
    4/15
    The tradition of the Hohokam Invitational at Westwood high school always brings the fun and great competition. The boys team placed 6th overall and the girls team landed in 14th. The boys jumps team continued to impress, scoring 21 of the team’s 37 total points! Jaymis Brown brought in 15 of those points with a 1st place finish in Long Jump and 4th place in Triple Jump. Pierre Foster tied the existing school record in the high jump at 6’ 2” placing 3rd for the team. Pole Vault brought in 9 points with Ethan Kahler PR’ing and placing 3rd, while Shane Ellarrd placed 6th. Chris Kalu also brought home 6 points for the team in Shot Put. This is a memorable championship format meet consisting of a daytime session consisting of several heats of competition per event, and an evening session reserved for the fastest competitors of the meet. On the girls side, notable performances were Sara Jones scoring 8 points for the team in the 3200m and the girls 4x400 coming in 4th. Championship season begins in just a few days with Chandler City!
