Welcome to the GRIT Honors science class at Bogle Jr. High. This course recognizes the unique attributes of the individual student and provides a challenging curriculum incorporating enrichment, acceleration, and differentiation of our district standards. This hands-on, cooperative learning science class incorporates critical thinking skills and problem-based learning, in addition to the basic curriculum. Topics covered in 8th grade include chemistry and life science.
My Education and Professional Background
I am teaching 8th grade GRIT science this year at Bogle Jr. High School. This is my second year back at BJHS! Previously I taught one year of 8th grade science/biology in Higley, eight years of 7th grade science in Oklahoma, and I started my career here at BJHS teaching 8th grade science for six years. I have my Masters of Arts in Teaching (with a focus on Secondary Science) from Pacific University, and my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Biology from the University of Oregon.
My Educational Philosophy
I firmly believe that every student can learn and have fun while doing it!!! I strive to create a structured atmosphere full of inquiry and active student engagement in order to help my young learners grow as students.
