Welcome!

Welcome to Spanish and Life Connections! Feel free to explore each section to see more specifically what is offered.

My Education and Professional Background

I attended Northern Arizona University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Spanish and a minor in History. I meet the highly qualified requirements set by the State of Arizona and also hold an SEI endorsement.I have worked and interacted with kids for as long as I have had a job. During college, I was a nanny and worked at an after-school program at a local public school. I spent about 5 years with the Flagstaff school district until I moved to Phoenix in July of 2012. I have been teaching at Arizona College Prep since January of 2013 and have been teaching both Spanish and the middle school Life Connections class.

My Educational Philosophy

I am passionate and excited about the subjects I teach as well as the students that I teach. I want to share my knowledge so that students become self sufficient and leave with an awareness of their unique abilities and opportunities. I am there to guide and help my students in anyway possible however they must take an active role in their learning. I want my students to be challenged and to see that when they study a different language in the classroom it can be applied in the real world situations. I have high expectations for my students and want to create a learning environment that reflects those expectations. I ask that students and parents partner with me in taking responsibility for the education that will be received here at ACP. To sum up, "It's okay to not know but it's not okay to not try."

Welcome!

Welcome to Spanish with Señora Berger! I’m very excited to be your teacher and I can’t wait for us to have an exciting year. It’s going to be a lot of hard work, but it will also be very rewarding. Thanks for stopping by!

My Education and Professional Background

I received my degree in Spanish and K-12 Education from Iowa State University. While I was doing my undergraduate studies, I did an exchange program to Cuernavaca, Mexico where I lived with a host family and attended a Mexican University. Sick of the cold winters, I studied at Arizona State University where I received my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in ESL. I then received my Masters of Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University with an emphasis in administration with a principal certificate. Lastly, I have a Master of Arts in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I am certified in Spanish and English. I have an ESL (English as a Second Language), and Library-Media Specialist endorsement.

My Educational Philosophy

It is my goal to foster an intrinsic desire for learning in students. I feel that students need to see how the class will relate to them now and in the future in order to be vested in the content. I also think that learning a language, for some students, is a new experience with a different mindset and approach to studying from any other class. This can be an intimidating and daunting task to figure out how to study for a class that they may not have ever experienced. To ease the anxiety of the of the unknown, I encourage a warm, safe environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and experimenting with the language. If they are at ease while learning, I truly feel that they will be more apt to attempt communication in the target language—which is my ultimate goal for the students. I love Spanish and it is my dream that I can pass this passion and enjoyment of the language onto all of my students.

Welcome!

Welcome! No matter if you are in a beginning course or an advanced course, the following strategies will serve you well. Come to class prepared, both in attitude and materials. Participate fully in class. Diligently complete homework and study. Keep trying. Seek help when needed. If you follow these guidelines, you may surprise yourself with what you can accomplish!

My Education and Professional Background

I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Secondary Education (mathematics) from the University of Portland in 1995. I earned my Masters in Teacher Leadership (Gifted & Talented Education) from Lamar University in 2015. I taught for 7 years in Washington State at both junior high and high school levels. In 2004, we moved our family to Arizona for my husband’s career. I started teaching for Chandler Unified School district in 2005 at Basha High School. I have taught at Arizona College Prep- Erie since the 2013-2014 school year. In addition to my classroom experience, I have planned and written curriculum for an on-line education company.

My Educational Philosophy

As a veteran teacher, I have grown in so many ways since my first tentative steps as an educator. I found that I am quite adept at writing mathematics curriculum and adopting it to fit individual student’s needs. I think of math concepts, how students learn math, and what causes students to struggle. I am joyous over the beauty in a mathematical proof or seeming paradox. I know that not all my students will share this depth of appreciation, but I want them to, at the minimum, feel capable of using mathematics to access their own dreams and maximize their own futures. As a result, I find that I am an advocate for the struggling students as well as the gifted student. Allowing each student to access the curriculum at their level empowers each of them to grow and do great things. When students have confidence and teachers that believe in them, they believe they can change the world. This world needs people who are willing to believe that is possible.

Welcome!

I am very excited to be teaching Honors Geometry and College Algebra this year at Arizona College Prep! I am looking forward to having another successful year!!!

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from the University of New Mexico where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Secondary Education certification. I also have a Master's degree in Natural Science (which is a STEM based degree) from the college of engineering at Arizona State University. I started teaching at ACP-Erie in 2014. I have taught in the Chandler Unified School District since 2006, eight of those years at Willis Jr. High School. Prior to that I taught at Scottsdale Educational Enrichment High School for 3 years, Thomas J. Pappas High School for 4 years, and in the Gallup McKinley County School District (New Mexico) for 3 years.

My Educational Philosophy

It is my belief that a classroom should be student centered and student driven. It is not my job to give students methods to solve problems, but to guide them to find solutions on their own. I believe that students learn best by being active participants who collaborate and share ideas in order to solve problems. I have high expectations for every student and I make them accountable for their learning. I try to make mathematics relevant by explaining where in the real world they might encounter the various problems that they study.

Welcome!

Welcome to Arizona College Prep. I am Ms. Mohr and I have taught both Mathematics and Computer Science in order to best serve ACP students; I have taught seventh through twelfth graders in classes ranging from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus BC as well as Software Engineering. For the 2018-2019 School year I will be teaching Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus BC.

My Education and Professional Background

I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics from Arizona State University and my Master's in Education in Secondary Education and Arizona Teaching Certificate from Arizona State University. I meet the highly qualified requirements set by the State of Arizona and also hold an SEI endorsement on my 7 - 12 Teaching Certificate. I have attended the College Board AP Summer Institutes for both AB and BC Calculus to be current on the AP curriculum and test. In addition to being a certified Teacher, I am a certified Master Tutor from the College Reading and Learning Association with over 1000 hours experience tutoring prior to teaching. I have tutored both Mathematics and Computer Science. I tutor all levels of Mathematics from basic arithmetic to Calculus and Differential Equations along with the programming languages of Java and C++. I have been actively involved with Mathematics Clubs at both Mesa Community College and Arizona State University as an officer in both clubs.

My Educational Philosophy

It is my responsibility to ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn. Students must be both physically and mentally present to learn. I believe that with the proper learning environment, attitude and a lot of practice all students are capable of success. It is my responsibility to provide a learning environment that is predictable and focused on the goal of deep understanding. It is my belief that students are ultimately responsible for themselves. In choosing a behavior, students also choose the consequences that follow whether the consequences are positive or negative. No student has the right to infringe on a classmates learning.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated in the bottom 90% of my class at Alamogordo Senior High School in Alamogordo, New Mexico. I studied Biology at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego where I received a BA degree. Post-grad I began studies in Biblical literature, history and hermeneutic classes; as well as theology and speech classes for the purpose of receiving a minister’s license. I spent fifteen years as a full-time youth minister working with teenagers in a local church. At the end of this time, I began two two years of post-baccalaureate classes through NAU to receive my teacher certificate and started teaching in the public schools in Chandler. I spent another two years working on a Master’s degree in Secondary Curriculum through NAU. And now, looking back on over 23 years of teaching, the most rewarding lessons are those I have learned from my students in the classroom.

My Educational Philosophy

My goal as a teacher is to instill a passion for reading, writing and thinking. I design my class to be student-centered and highly engaging with an emphasis on critical thinking through Socratic Discussion and debate. I am a proponent of humor in the classroom, both the teacher’s and the student’s. The soul should not be divorced from writing so an emphasis on writing for an audience and presentation will be paramount to the class. It is also my belief that every student, including this teacher, needs to grow as a reader, writer and thinker. The only way to do this is to read, write and think, so these will be done daily with the above goals in mind.

Welcome to Honors English. You will be engaged in a high level of language arts study aiming at preparing you for either high school. In addition to further enhancing your grammar skills and vocabulary, the focus of the course is to refine reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills through the exploration of different texts. You will read, reflect on, and analyze a variety of pieces, both fiction and nonfiction.

My Education and Professional Background

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English for Arizona State University. I meet the highly qualified requirements set by the State of Arizona and also hold an SEI endorsement.Prior to college I was a counselor at a music camp. I worked in the Dysart District for the first five years of my teaching career. When we moved to the East Valley, I worked in Mesa Public Schools before settling in Maricopa. When we moved to Chandler, I spent one year working as a Response to Intervention Specialist before beginning work at ACP. I have taught English Language Arts for grades 7-12 at all skill levels.

My Educational Philosophy

I naturally helped other students during elementary school and by eighth grade I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Through volunteering and counseling at music camp, I discovered that I had a passion for teenagers. I am an understanding soul who has the ability to see a student's potential and help guide them over, under, around, and through the obstacles they encounter during the educational race. I believe that through reading and writing students come to understand themselves, the world around them, and their place in that world. I belive students learn they have the power to change the world through education. In our classroom, I help students create a community of learners since the teen years are a huge part of their social development. Students are accountable for their learning in my classroom and I believe they reap what they sow. I have high expectations for students and I do not believe in the word "can't".

I am glad you've located my classroom website. This site will provide you with information and resources for the courses I teach throughout the year. The information on this page is meant to be a guideline and may be slightly different from information covered in the classroom due to necessary scheduling changes. My preferred contact is through email but I do check my voicemail on my phone.

My Education and Professional Background

Upon receiving by Bachelors of Science degree I spent seven years working in corporate wellness centers and eventually into rehabilitation clinics. My time in that profession only strengthened my desire to teach as I pursued a teaching certification and eventually a Masters degree from Northern Arizona University. Teaching for ACP-Erie has exceeded my expectations. I find the students highly motivated and the format cutting edge. I look forward to being your teacher and wish you the best. This is my twenty second year as a classroom teacher. I am certified as highly qualified in biology, chemistry, health, and general science. My first nineteen years were in the Gilbert Public Schools district. I have taught biology, chemistry, honors chemistry AP chemistry and anatomy & physiology. I’m also an adjunct faculty for Rio Salado College formerly responsible for course development and teaching Principles of Human Nutrition courses and currently teaching chemistry 130 and 130LL lab.

My Educational Philosophy

Education in a comprehensive view is what a person becomes as a result of learning. All experiences, good or bad are educational. Teaching should always be viewed in this context, as an important part of a bigger journey. As a science teacher I must continually keep in mind the big question; what purpose does it serve in a student's life? Does it contribute in a lasting way to the student’s personal awareness and social relevance? Motivating students to study and learn is the greatest challenge a teacher faces. All people enjoy learning the things that interest them as long as they can make reasonable progress. It is my job as a teacher to make science exciting and interesting to students and to place success within reach of all. I must hold expectations of individual students, which provide maximum challenge, and hope of success for all.

Welcome!

Welcome to Arizona College Prep and to Physical Education! I believe that Physical Education is an integral part of the total education process. My program relates to lifetime activities, which can be carried over into their adult life and assist the individual in further development: physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. I believe this program will challenge each student to reach his/her highest potential and allow opportunities for success and enjoyment.

My Education and Professional Background

I attended Northern Arizona University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a minor in History. I also received my Master's in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Health and Wellness from Northern Arizona University. I started my teaching career in the fall of 1999: 2 years at Gilbert High School, 7 years at Hamilton High School and am one of the original teachers who started Arizona College Prep (Hamilton Prep) in 2007. I have taught Physical Education, aerobics, weight training and health. I also have coached both boys and girls volleyball at many different levels, junior high and high school. I am excited about the opportunity to develop a yoga fitness class here at ACP.

My Educational Philosophy

I am very passionate about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and want to instill these behaviors into my students. With the growing concern of obesity in the United States I feel I need to do my part to arm students with the knowledge to make smart decisions about nutrition and exercise. Yes, we will do team sports throughout the year, but they will also be learning health concepts and nutrition. I also like to incorporate a variety of fitness activities for students who might not be team sport orientated. I hope by doing different activities students will be able to find a form of physical activity that they enjoy and pursue into their adulthood. When this occurs I am a happy coach! A student does not have to be a star athlete to be successful in my class, be present, dressed out and participate in the activities. Physical activity should be fun and challenging at the same time!

Welcome! I started teaching at Arizona College Prep. in 2009, and this is my 25th year teaching physical education. I am very excited to be a part of the ACP-Erie team, and look forward to a great school year working with the students and parents here at ACP!

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. degree in Physical Education. After many years of teaching and coaching, from Kindergarten to 12th grade, I went back to school in 2006 and received my Master's Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University.

My Educational Philosophy

I strongly believe that physical education is an integral part of each student's total learning experience. The information and knowledge gained from this class will help the students maximize their quality of life and enhance their sense of well-being. I look forward to making physical education an enjoyable and positive experience for all of my students.

Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by, and welcome to the fascinating studies of physics and mathematics. I graduated from high school and college here in Arizona, and returned to the Valley in 2014 after living in New Jersey, California, and Virginia. I’m happy to be back home.

My Education and Professional Background

I have a BS in Physics from ASU, a PhD in Physics from Princeton University, and am teaching through Arizona’s teacher-in-residence program. I joined the faculty at Arizona College Prep in 2015. Between completing my PhD and becoming a teacher, I spent two years as a junior researcher on the science team for a small NASA satellite and five years as an analyst at a research and development center in Northern Virginia. I occasionally teach astronomy or physics at MCC and ASU.

My Educational Philosophy

The classroom should be a warm and welcoming environment in which students are actively engaged with the material. My class is structured around letting students take responsibility for their own learning. I provide context and structure, illustrate key concepts, work sample problems, and am a constant resource for the students, but the hard work of learning is theirs. Students should be constantly doing and thinking, which I encourage through discussion, laboratories, guided inquires, and problems that challenge students to apply concepts to novel situations. To foster meaningful interaction with and among students, I treat them with respect and expect them to treat each other with respect. I encourage students to share their understanding of the material during class and use these informal interactions to tailor my teaching to both individuals and the full class.

Welcome to Honors English. Through the study of literature, both fiction and non-fiction, you will enhance your vocabulary and grammar skills along with your critical thinking skills in writing and speaking. You will be given many opportunities to read, explore, analyze, and synthesize various literary works throughout the year to ensure your future success in AP English and in college. I look forward to a wonderful year together!

My Education and Professional Background

I received my Master's in Educational Leadership with a certification in Administration in 2008 from NAU. I have also completed many hours toward a Master's degree in Reading through Illinois State University. My support for the Sundevils dates back to 1995 when I received my teaching degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English. I have enjoyed many years of teaching experience at both the junior high and high school level. In 2002 I joined CUSD at Andersen Junior High School until 2015 where I taught 8th grade English and was the school's International Baccalaureate Coordinator for the Middle Years Program (MYP). I have several years of experience teaching English in grades 9-12 in the state of Illinois and look forward to once again teaching at the high school level. Coaching basketball cheerleading for grades 7-12 was also a wonderful experience, both in Illinois and Arizona.

My Educational Philosophy

Being a teacher requires a special love for children. The passion I have for teaching has stayed strong since I first entered the field of education in 1995. Children of all ages are a precious gift, and we must all work together to guarantee they are given every opportunity for success. Therefore, it is essential to have a strong partnership with the parents of the students in my classroom to ensure this success. There should be no limits to the dreams our children have for their future. There is a world of opportunity that awaits them - a global and international world where new careers are being developed each and every day. That is why we must do our best to prepare our children for these endless opportunities and never stifle their dreams. I look forward to working with the parents of the students I teach to help them discover just how far their dreams may go.

My name is Jason Salomone and I direct the orchestras at both campuses of Arizona College Preparatory as well as CTA Freedom Elementary. This is my 6th proud year teaching for Chandler Unified School District. Please e-mail me with any questions. Information about upcoming events can be found on the links included on this site

My Education and Professional Background

I studied the double bass at Mannes College of Music in Manhattan with John Dewitt, and I graduated with a bachelors degree in music education and performance from The Crane School of Music. During my years at Crane I held the principal chair in the symphony orchestra, the chamber orchestra, and the jazz big band. I also performed in the Orchestra of Northern NY alongside my bass instructor, John Geggie. I studied violin, viola, and cello as secondary instruments in college. I began teaching orchestra in Syracuse, NY within the Liverpool School District. I moved to Arizona in 2005 and taught for the Deer Valley School District for several years. Since 2009, I have been teaching orchestra for the Chandler Unified School District. I also perform professionally on a regular basis.

My Educational Philosophy

In my classroom, it's never just about music. We're learning how to set goals, take responsibility for ourselves, meet deadlines, and collaborate in a positive way with a variety of different people. Teamwork is a very important part of what I teach in an orchestra class. As students excel on their instruments they gain skills and techniques, but they also learn that to achieve in life takes work and dedication. At the core of it all, they learn that work can be fun, and that achieving goals is rewarding.

Welcome!

Hello there! I am proud to be a 4th generation native of Arizona. My grandfather and my father instilled a love of history and culture that is undeniable. It is this passion for history and learning that led me to leave the business world after 15+ years to pursue a career in education. My hope is that my passion for history pours out and becomes tangible for my students.

My Education and Professional Background

I was once a student of the CUSD and am excited to now give back as a teacher. I received my undergraduate degree from Arizona State University (Go Devils!) and my graduate degree from Grand Canyon University (Go Lopes!).

My Educational Philosophy

It is my responsibility to create a consistent, safe classroom environment where students can speak freely, engage in open dialogue, and share personal feelings without judgment. The classroom is where I mold the future leaders, workers, and volunteers of the community at large. I prepare students for these roles through modeling respect and compassion for others in the classroom and with other faculty, staff, and administration on and off campus. I counsel students to be accountable for their academic journey by participating in lessons and activities that promote self-discovery and self-expression. In my classroom, I embrace each student’s distinct contribution to the learning process, and I invite them to enhance the academic discussion through their unique perspective. I believe that learning should challenge the students to think higher and wider- to think beyond their immediate influences- but, I also believe that learning should be fun and creative.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Miss Lindstrom's English classes. Over thirty-two years ago, I began my teaching career, teaching all levels and types of Language Arts classes from remedial to Advanced Placement, 9th through 12th grade. I am now focusing primarily on AP Language. Although teaching teens is my passion and main focus in life, I do enjoy living a healthy & happy life with all my dogs.

My Education and Professional Background

Bachelor of Arts in English with Honors (California State University, Chico), Masters of Education in Literacy Curriculum and Instruction (University of Missouri, Columbia), Education Specialist/Doctor of Education in Literacy Curriculum (North Central University). I have taught in California and Arizona, and have been teacher, level lead, department chair, curriculum director, and I am an AP Reader for the AP Language exam.

My Educational Philosophy

All people have the capability within them to learn; however, most people need the assistance and reassurance to recognize, enhance, and establish their own abilities. I seek to provide that inspiration and influence by creating a positive, understanding, nurturing, yet rigorous environment for adolescents to grow. I am looking forward to a strong working relationship with the parents and students of ACP-E. Let's have a great year!

What an exciting year of science we have for Honors Biology and 9th grade Investigative Science! Honors Bio will lay the appropriate foundation for college Bio while 9th grade Investigative Science will spend a lot of time using inquiry to delve into the thought processes involved with asking scientific questions.

My Education and Professional Background

For high school, I went to the prestigious Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts where I majored in Theater before spending a year as an exchange student to Hamburg Germany learning to speak German. I majored in German and Pre-med at LSU in Baton Rouge and then went on to finish a Master's of Science in Biology at Southeastern Louisiana University. I finished 3+ years of a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the University of Utah completing everything except my dissertation (so A.B.D.) While working on my Ph.D., I was supported by a grant from the Human Genome Project and published several scientific papers in national journals. I have been teaching Bio 181 (for Majors) at Chandler-Gilbert Community College since 2010 and Microbiology 205 at Mesa Community College when it fits my schedule. I have taught 7th-12th Science for 7 years, the last 2 years being with CUSD at ACP-Oakland.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that every student is capable of being inspired by the world around them. Studying the observable world is what science is all about so that means every student can be successful in science!

Welcome!

I am excited to begin the new school year and am looking forward to getting to know all of my students and their parents. We are going to have fun, broaden our knowledge, and create an atmosphere that invites participation and civil discourse.

My Education and Professional Background

I have a Master’s in Secondary Education, and two BA Degrees, one in History and one in Anthropology. I am highly qualified to teach all History and Social Studies classes as well as all Language Arts. I am an ASU Alumnus and a huge Sun Devil fan! I have attended numerous Gilder Lehrman and NEH teacher seminars and workshops to advance and enrich my content knowledge and my teaching skills and also was awarded a Barringer Fellowship this July. I have been a Table Leader for AP College Board Seminar for the last three years. Additionally, I have an extensive background in retail and restaurant management and accounting which gives me a “real-world” perspective in Economics.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that kindness and respect are the key elements to any successful collaboration, therefore, the relationship that exists between students and their teacher must be based upon mutual respect and extreme kindness. I not only promise to respect my students, but to respect their time. Homework is appropriate for learning or extending skills and will be assigned as such. I believe that every one of my classrooms is its own family and I strive to create a warm, safe, and engaging atmosphere that is conducive to all learning styles. I love teaching and I love my students, so it is important to me that my students enjoy my class and that they are deeply engaged in learning and achieving at the highest possible level. I will give my students 100% every day and I expect the same from all of them in return, so the best way to succeed in my class is to be an active participant in one’s own education.

Welcome!

Welcome, I am excited for this upcoming year at ACP! You will find success by following a few important strategies. Come to class with a positive attitude and give maximum effort. Be ready and eager to participate and share in class or small group discussions. Ask for help when you need it, and be willing to help others. Stick to these guidelines, and we will have a great year learning and growing together!

My Education and Professional Background

I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Secondary Education, along with a major in mathematics, from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri in 2016. I worked as a teacher for several elementary level educational camps and after school programs, but this is my first full time teaching job. I also played golf for 4 years while in college, which has prepared me to coach the varsity golf team here at ACP.

My Educational Philosophy

As a first time teacher, I have accumulated a wealth of knowledge on the latest educational theories and practices. I have studied and practiced countless teaching strategies and methods that I believe will be beneficial in creating a positive learning environment. Through a great liberal arts education a Rockhurst University, a Jesuit institution, I have acquired a strong belief in social justice for all students. In terms of mathematical knowledge, I feel very confident in my ability to adapt my instruction for struggling students and challenge more advanced students. I believe that by connecting with students on a personal level I can help them gain confidence in themselves in and out of the classroom.

Welcome!

Welcome to Mandarin Chinese! I am pleased to be teaching Mandarin Chinese at ACP Erie and Casteel High. 欢迎!

My Education and Professional Background

I completed my undergraduate degree in Spanish Education from the University of South Carolina. My master’s is in World Languages with an emphasis in Mandarin Education from the University of Utah. In studying languages, I have had the opportunity to study abroad in China, Taiwan and Spain.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that every student can learn Mandarin Chinese. Learning how to learn and study Mandarin is an important part of the process. Learning does require effort, but can and should be enjoyable and rewarding. Learning should also be meaningful, relating to students’ experiences and interests. I find it rewarding to see student progress over the course of the year, from being unable to write any Chinese to writing entire essays in a new language!

Welcome!

Welcome to all the ceramicists, painters, artists, sculptors, daydreamers, goofballs and especially those who strive for the impossible. It is my pleasure to welcome you to art class. I simply cannot wait to see what you create and how you will grow as an artist this year. Be prepared to get messy and imaginative!

My Education and Professional Background

Education and Professional Background (part 1) I have been making art since before I could talk. As I went in to high school as a young adult I would find anything that I could paint on to practice; this led to painted shoes and backpacks, shirts and often a painted face. I went to ASU as an artist, I began in drawing and painting classes with my peers as well as sculpture, design and color. I soon took classes to become an instructor. Education and Professional Background (part 2) There is nothing that has ever filled me with such joy as to show someone a technique and help them to ignite the love and passion for their own style of art. As I graduated with a bachelor's in art education I was the number one teacher candidate within my class. I am so elated to be in a school that has such wonderful students and I can't wait to be one of the few arts teachers here on campus!

My Educational Philosophy

I would like this classroom to work as though it was a college art studio. You are responsible for your behavior in class as well as your level of progress. If you would like to learn more or work more, that is always encouraged. In the classroom, each student must be a self advocate and determine their own level success. That being said, this class is very flexible and free. If you have artistic ideas that you would like to create other than the project that we are doing, we can discuss it! I encourage conversation and respectful discussion; if you don't understand something or want to discuss your grade or aspects of the class you’re displeased with, please discuss it with me! I am available most days before and after school if you need to talk about anything that is bothering you or something that you enjoy about the class that you would like to see more of.

Welcome to Mr. Kidder's page. This is my 13th year teaching science and my first year at ACP. I am excited to be a part of the ACP community.

My Education and Professional Background

I attended ASU and earned a bachelor's degree in Biology in 1997. I spent some time figuring out what to do with my degree until one day I decided teaching science was it. I received a Master's in Education from ASU in 2005.

My Educational Philosophy

One of the great things about teaching is it allows you to keep learning yourself. What I love about science is how it's a means to understand more and more about how things work in this world. Science strives to constantly add new understanding to what we have already come to know. Developing science skills becomes ever increasingly important as we face new global challenges generated by our growing population, resource use, and development of technologies.

Welcome!

Greetings and salutations! I am so excited for the 2018-2019 school year. Please take the time to explore this website as it contains some helpful resources and information. Always remember: Never give up. Practice, practice, practice. Ask questions!

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from St. John Fisher College with a BA in Mathematics and a BA in Statistics in 2014. During this time I had the priviledge to complete a statistics internship for and educational data collection agency. In May 2018 I completed my Master of Science in Mathematics Education. I taught 7th and 8th grade in Glendale from July 2015 to May 2017 before moving to ACP Erie.

My Educational Philosophy

A teacher’s role is to support students academically through a safe, respectful, caring environment. Through dedication and tenacity of students, teachers, and parents, I believe all students are able to learn and achieve at their highest level. Students should be academically challenged to meet high expectations and teachers should be available and prepared to support and aid students in the pursuit of achieving those expectations. I believe for each student to find success they must have a desire to learn, ask questions, always try their hardest, and never give up. “You never fail until you stop trying.” ~Albert Einstein

I looking forward to everyday of creative fun and learning for my honors and human biology classes. Honors biology will be able to get a very strong foundation for college level biology whereas Human Biology students will be able to learn the basic anatomy and Physiology of humans and compare and contrast it with other vertebrates and invertebrates.

My Education and Professional Background

I was born and brought up 100 miles away from the wettest place on earth " Mausynram. in Cherrapunji", India. I am the eldest of three siblings and graduated with a MS in Zoology with Distinction. I moved to the US after I got married to my loving husband and now have a 12 year old creative daughter and a 10 year old energetic son. I just completed my second M.S degree from ASU, working on Honey bee developmental genetics. I am a part of the ASU honey bee lab and also the Butterfly Wonderland.

My Educational Philosophy

I strongly believe in hands on learning and creativity. The more the students are involved in the process of learning, the more they remember and hence learn from their environment better. Also, it’s not enough to learn the tools and trades of today but to be able to critically analyze and come up with innovative ideas to solve a problem for the future. So thinking outside the box and making students uncomfortable is a good place to be in the learning process.

Welcome!

Welcome to a course that will make you a better person. That is a guaranty. How can I guaranty something like that? Well, in terms of virtue and ethics, (the things that make you a GOOD person) the subject of history will help you grow immensely, it ties into the two, they are inseparable. The more history you are exposed to, the better you are as an individual, without exception. This is how I view History. This should give you an idea of what to expect in my classroom.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education (Secondary Education History). During college I worked as a habilitation therapist (a job I would absolutely recommend to my students) as well as in the marketing department for Great Hearts Academies. I got to work teaching right after graduating. I did my student teaching for Arizona State here at Arizona College Prep, I stayed on board, and haven’t skipped a beat. ACP isn’t just where I work but where I developed my pedagogy into what it is today.

My Educational Philosophy

My educational philosophy is driven by developing a sense of wonder and depth of inquiry in my students. This takes place in lessons that are just as curious about why we study history as they are about what happened in our past. I create a safe and compassionate learning environment where a student can let go of their inhabitations about being wrong, or sounding ignorant, and instead, strive to explore the subjects we tackle. I expect hard work and diligence, but I also expect the students to develop an understanding of the importance of pushing yourself.

Welcome!

I have an open-door policy for students/parents and welcome an opportunity to work together to make this a great year.

My Education and Professional Background

I earned a BA in History from the Univ. of Missouri-Columbia (Go Tigers!) and have a masters from UOP. I've been fortunate to teach a variety of Advanced Placement classes including World and US History, plus participating in the We the People government program with my senior classes.

My Educational Philosophy

My educational philosophy is simply this; An engaged student of history is one who will learn to question not merely the dates and places, but the why, how, and "how does this impact me" perspective. I'm an advocate of differentiated instruction (which is a fancy way of saying I like to mix it up when I'm teaching). Each day should bring something a little different so that all the students will stay connected to what we are learning. Reading, discussion and participation are critical! Students of the 21st century must have the flexibility and skills necessary to thrive in a plugged-in or pencil and paper world. Finally, I think students deserve to understand expectations placed on them so they have the opportunity to achieve and feel safe in the classroom environment.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Business Marketing! I am very excited to teach the principals of building a business. This class will develop and challenge your creativeness, organizational and problem solving skills! This class will be taught from a facilitator standpoint that will allow students to explore and learn from their peers and overall environment!

My Education and Professional Background

I received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Phoenix College and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Management from Everest University. I have worked in Business Development for over 15 years ranging from sales, administration and operation management. In the summer of 2018 I will be attending Northcentral University to earn my Masters in Education with an emphasis on Athletic Coaching.

My Educational Philosophy

My educational philosophy is unique in that I encourage real world application. Although a textbook has the foundation of the material and subject matter, I feel it is my responsibility to take that information and interject relevancy to the student’s life. Regardless of the student’s collegiate or career path, the skills learned in Business Marketing are lifelong skills that will enable students to sell themselves and operate in an appropriate business manner in all areas of their lives.

I earned a BA in English from the University of North Texas. I have taught previously in Texas and in Japan. While in Japan I also had the pleasure of serving on the executive board of our local community theater where I was able to plan, produce, direct, and perform in several plays and musicals.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that life is about making connections. I believe in the power of community and the value of reading, writing, and discussion as tools to help us shape our own opinions and beliefs. I strive to create a classroom environment of mutual respect, kindness, and fun that fosters a sense community and human connection so that we can all learn and grow. I believe that studying theater is just as important as studying math and that it gives us an opportunity to develop skills needed to succeed in a variety of industries and environments. Most importantly, I believe in my students, and I believe in fun.

My Education and Professional Background

Almost my entire educational experience has happened right here in Arizona. I attended K-12 at Gilbert Public Schools before heading off to ASU in 2004. I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology, which led me to graduate school at the University of Hawaii. I spent one year in the cell and molecular biology program before deciding I had not yet found my calling. In the interest of exploring my passions, I became a yoga teacher. During this time, I also contracted as a writer for two companies who created web content for businesses and professionals. In 2013, I decided to build upon my love of writing, and I went back to ASU for a Bachelor's of Arts in English Literature. I graduated ASU in 2015 and began teaching English in Mesa that same year. My first year of teaching was also my first year as a Master's student, and in 2017 I earned my third degree from ASU: An M.Ed. in Secondary Education.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that the skills students learn in English – thinking, reading, writing, speaking, and listening – are paramount to their success in whatever endeavors they will choose to pursue. Learning is a life-long practice, and I hope to help instill in my students a passion for that practice. While my curricular focus is English, I celebrate all aspects of knowledge and learning, and I encourage my students to make connections between content areas. Students must learn how to use skills and knowledge from one area to help them problem-solve in another area. Further, I know that every student has the capacity to learn and succeed, though these processes may look different from student to student.

Welcome to Spanish 3 with Señora Zoller! I’m looking so forward to guiding you through a year of language learning and cultural exploration. The course will be challenging, but I think you’ll also find it very rewarding. Thanks for stopping by, be sure to check out our google website for class updates, practice, assignments and more! https://sites.google.com/view/gzoller

My Education and Professional Background

I received my Bachelor degree in Spanish from the University of Mary Washington in Virginia. While enrolled in that program I was fortunate to study abroad for an extended semester in Quito, Ecuador. I love to share incredible memories and insights from my time there, and highly encourage all students to find a path to studying abroad; it truly is the best way to learn a language. After completing undergraduate work I moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend Simmons College. I earned a Master of Teaching in Secondary Education.

My Educational Philosophy

Learning a language can be a daunting task- it asks the student to take risks and work outside of their comfort zone, both in the classroom and while studying at home. Learning a language is also one of the best ways to connect communities and learn about our world from a new point of view. My overwhelming hope is that every student that walks into our classroom feels a sense of belonging, is nurtured, and feels safe in this learning journey. I ask my students to be daily active participants in our class and to have a growth mindset in how they approach each task at hand; in turn, I will give them the tools they need to be successful. Together we can explore the “why” in the question “why should I learn Spanish?” and I truly hope each of my students finds their personal answer.

My Educational Philosophy

The purpose of education is to learn how to be curious. The purpose of English and reading and communication is to understand how to make connections with other people and in so doing better understand who we are. My philosophy of English education is that my job as instructor is to foster an environment of open curiosity, one that allows students room for exploration of other voices, perspectives, and experiences and in so doing find their own.

Encouraging students to persevere and providing them with the tools and assistance to push themselves past what they believe they’re capable of is important to me. Welcome!

My name is Martha Vitton and I am from Chicago, Illinois. My husband and 3 kids moved to Chandler in 2013. I am thrilled to be a part of the Erie family this year!!

My Education and Professional Background

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1997 where I studied Psychology, I was accepted into a program called Alliance for Catholic Education where I received a Masters of Arts in Teaching. I taught 7th and 8th grade in Shreveport, LA for 2 years as part of this program. Upon returning from LA, I went to DePaul University and earned a Master's in Education for School Counseling while teaching 7th and 8th grade. I was a Counselor in Chicago Public Schools for 11 years before moving here in 2013. This year will be my 6th year in Chandler Unified.

My Educational Philosophy

Student success will create lifelong learners and that is my ultimate goal. Promoting each student’s personalized educational path has its challenges but it it my mission each and every day to be sure students know who they are as learners and individuals. Once they know who they are, they will soar.

Welcome to Honors English!

My Education and Professional Background

BS University of Scranton, Elementary Education, MEd. University of Scranton, Curriculum & Instruction, AZ Teaching Certification K-12 with a concentration in English I have been fortunate enough to teach in parochial, private prep school, inner-city & suburban public schools before coming to ACP-Erie.

My Educational Philosophy

Through my over twenty years in the classroom I have learned a few things... I have learned that equity if vastly more important than fairness. Fairness does not take into consideration an individual's needs. Equity provides an individual with what he or she needs, which may differ from their neighbor. I strive to provide each of my student's with what he or she needs individually. I am a life-long learner myself, and hope to encourage that trait in my students.

Welcome!

Welcome to the ACP-Erie Counseling Department! Please explore all sections of the counseling website for updates, announcements, and college information.

My Education and Professional Background

I have been a professional educator and coach for over 20 years. During this time, I have taught and collaborated on every level (elementary to graduate-college). I have also served in several leadership roles including counseling department chair and head football coach. These roles have included the mentoring and supervision of students, colleagues, and athletes. During my 20 years in education, I have learned that collaboration and feedback are essential to building positive relationships and effective learning outcomes. In my spare time, I am an avid runner and weightlifter that enjoys training individuals also seeking specific health and wellness goals. As a result, I often search for new documentaries, research, and books that focus on human performance. My wife and three daughters share this passion for human growth and performance.

My Educational Philosophy

Education is an evolution. There are constant changes that require flexibility, perseverance, and commitment. As Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant once stated, “Little things make me proud.” These “little things” facilitate growth academically, physically, socially, and spiritually. These “little things” also develop character and promote high standards and expectations. These standards and expectations challenge students to take an active role in their education. Personally, I am willing to listen to the needs and concerns of my students. I am a constant advocate (for my students) and will attempt to always keep life in perspective.

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

Welcome!

Welcome to Social Studies and World History! On my page you will find all the information needed for class.

My Education and Professional Background

I attended Arizona State University and in 2009 I earned my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in History. I meet the highly qualified requirements set by the State of Arizona in English, Social Studies, History, Government and Economics. In 2011 I received my Master’s degree in Geography from ASU as well. Throughout college I worked in the banking industry while regularly interning in a variety of middle and upper grade level classrooms. I finished my teaching degree with my student teaching experience at Chandler High School. Following college, I moved to Boston and New York to teach, but ultimately found my way back to Arizona. Prior to coming to ACP I taught in the Combs, Higley and Queen Creek District. I am excited to start my 9th year as a teacher at Arizona College Prep!

My Educational Philosophy

My educational philosophy is driven by the students who enter my classroom. I often find that even with the same material that I teach in a given day, each class is different and changes based on each individual student and class discussion. I strive to promote inquiry based learning and encourage students to think outside the box while often exiting their comfort zone within the learning process. I want my students to be challenged. I have high expectations; believing that everyone can set the bar and then exceed it. I work towards creating a learning environment that reflects those high expectations. I believe that students should take responsibility for their learning process and have a right to feel accomplished in their learning.

My Education and Professional Background

I earned a BA in Economics and Minor in Computer Science from UC Berkeley in 1998. I worked in the Software Industry in San Jose, CA for three years. In 2001 I got married and moved to Arizona to join my husband. I got the Secondary Education teaching certificate and started teaching in 2004. My Educational Philosophy

I have grown a lot in my education career. The students that are struggling are the ones who really need me to teach them. The students who are excelling only need me to guide them. We are education a whole person, not just Math, English, Science, or Social Study. We are empowering the student by allowing them to access the material at their level and skill to ensure their success and growth. The students and I have a common goal, always reach for the stars!
