|"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one."|
|-- George R.R. Martin|
Welcome to the new school year! I am looking forward to a successful year!
My Education and Professional Background
I am an Arizona native and a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education. I then completed my graduate studies at ASU, where I received M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading. I began my teaching career in Tempe, at Connolly Middle School, where I taught 6th and 7th grade. After ten years, I moved to the Chandler district where I taught 8th grade at Andersen Junior High School. This is my first year at Casteel, where I will be teaching both 7th and 8th grade ELA.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that ALL students can learn! It is important to teach students to think for themselves and to grow as learners to become the best they can be. Helping students build confidence and self esteem is as important as teaching curriculum so that they will continue to grow and be lifelong learners.
