My Education and Professional Background
I currently have a BS in Art Education and a BFA in Painting from Edinboro University of PA, with a minor in art history. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in museum studies from Johns Hopkins University. I have been teaching Art since 2003 in both high school and middle school settings.
My Educational Philosophy
As a teacher, I want my students to learn and appreciate art and its history. It is my conviction that art is a subject worth knowing. I want my students to come away from class with a better understanding of the many forms art can encompass, whether it be drawing, painting, printmaking, etc., as well as, the many new, non-conventional ways of art making. As a teacher, I want to challenge my students to become independent, objective thinkers. I want them to be able to look at a piece of artwork and form their own opinions and critical analysis of the piece.
