About Mrs. Janelle Schildgen...

Phone: (480) 424-8700
Welcome! I'm so excited to be joining the ACP community this year teaching English 9 & 10. This will be my 11th year of teaching, all in CUSD. A little about me...I was born and raised in Iowa (Go Hawks!) before moving to Arizona with my husband, Rick. We have two wonderful adult sons, Evan & Nate, and our daughter, Megan, is in her senior year here at ACP.
My Education and Professional Background
I earned my Bachelor's degree at the University of Iowa (Go Hawks!) in English and Secondary Education. I went on to pursue a career in Marketing, working for corporations such as McCulloch and Black & Decker. After 15 years in the corporate world, I decided to return to the field I love and earned a Master's degree in Special Education and Elementary Education from ASU. I have taught both as a Special Education teacher and as a classroom teacher and love working with young people!
My Educational Philosophy
Every classroom has its own unique sense of community. As the teacher, I aspire to create connections with students, and with what they read and write, so they may grow and develop as lifelong learners and critical thinkers. I aim to bring an open mind, a positive growth mindset, enthusiasm for the curriculum, and high expectations each day. I believe that I owe it to my students to bring consistency, diligence, and compassion to my job in the hope that I can ultimately inspire and encourage such traits in them.
