ACP Erie teacher Rachna Nath was selected to attend the Research Teachers Conference from Society for Science and the Public, the only one from Arizona. Under normal conditions, this would have been an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C., but the conference is virtual this year. Rachna was also selected to be a captain and lead a group of research teachers with resources that can benefit all of the 200 research teachers attending the conference. She will be presenting on "Teaching Research Virtually: Can't Stop, Won't Stop! Research is on!" Rachna is also working with Hitachi to bring in scanning electron microscopy labs to our ACP Erie in collaboration with ASU. Society for Science & the Public: Research Teachers Conference website

Healthy Habits for a Healthier You
ACP Erie sophomore Diya Nath has received amazing accolades for her book Healthy Habits for a Healthier You. This book is a compilation of two years of science research that she has done on gut micro-biome, and the connection between gut bacteria health and neurodegenerative diseases. Her book discusses how different medications we take daily -- like blood pressure meds, diabetes or even pain medications -- adversely affect our gut micro-biome. A proponent of healthy eating and healthy habits, Diya came up with 21 smoothie recipes that are antioxidant and flavonoid-rich, and explains the importance of healthy eating at an early age to stop chronic diseases. Her book has now been officially named #1 best seller in US, UK, Australia and India across nine different categories! Congratulations, Diya!
