Common Finals

  • Finals are End-of-Course/Year assessments. Finals are administered in grades 7-12 at the conclusion of Semester 1 and Semester 2.  The purpose of finals is to measure student mastery of course outcomes. To this end, CUSD is working towards building common finals for all sites and all courses.  Courses with common finals take the same assessment, regardless of which school the student attends. The results of these finals support students and staff with measuring student achievement and making improvements to courses to enhance teaching and learning throughout the district.

Common Finals are administered online using the SchoolCity platform. SchoolCity is a standards-based district assessment platform. In addition to administering Common Finals, teachers can also use the platform to create their own formative assessments. World Language finals are administered using Extempore.

All Common Finals are built by teams of content area teachers and coaches using adopted standards and CUSD curriculum maps. Curriculum maps are located on the CUSD Curriculum and Instruction website. for more information, please review our CUSD Balanced Assessment Framework
