    Welcome to my classroom; I hope you feel right at home. It is my intention to make this classroom a place where you feel valued and comfortable enough to express yourself, and thereby more fully engage in the lessons.

    My Education and Professional Background

    I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Grand Canyon University majoring in History with a minor in Political Science in 1994. I finished my Masters Degree from Northern Arizona University in Education in 2000. I am a lifelong learner, so I have completed 24 graduate-level classes. I continue to attend conferences and workshops and drive my wife a little stir crazy by reading and watching programs related to what I teach.

    My Educational Philosophy

    It is my job to create lessons that are interesting, compelling and engaging for the student. It is the student's responsibility to come to class with a desire to learn - with a wherewithal to focus on the tasks at hand - to be actively cognitively engaged in the learning exercise. Leaning is hard work; blue collar physically demanding work. A great deal of effort is required to be an effective learner. Mental, emotional, and physical effort is called for and demanded from academic success.
