Umbrianna...
I am excited to join the Chandler High team and continue building upon the traditions of excellence. I look forward to getting to know and work with the many talented students on campus. My hope is to foster a growing choir program where all willing participants can find a music home and friendships that will stand the test of time.
My Education and Professional Background
I received a Masters of Music, Choral Music Education from Arizona State University in 2004, and a Bachelor of Music, Choral Music Education from University of Arizona 1999. I taught in Tempe Union and Gilbert Public Schools conducting High School Choirs 1999-2007 before taking a short leave to start our family. I joined Chandler Unified Schools in 2011 at Payne then continuing on to Santan Junior High School. I performed with Arizona Opera Chorus from 2003-2011. I currently serve on the Arizona Choral Directors Association Board, AzACDA.
My Educational Philosophy
All students deserve quality education from professionals who are masters of their content and are excited to share it with others. Music is fundamental to our human existence, it crosses all culture throughout all of history. Singing in harmony brings us together by listening, truly listening to each other and joining our voices with others connecting each of us as we sing. Choir students who work hard together can create lasting bonds with their friends that can bring joy to their lives and develop important skills they can use for the rest of their lives.
