About Mrs. Teresa Gilchrist...
Position: Ceramics Teacher
Hello! I love teaching high school ceramics. I majored in ceramics in college and I always wanted to teach high school ceramics. I am so happy to be teaching at Hamilton High and the best part of my job is meeting new students, getting to know my students, and seeing what amazing projects they can create!
My Education and Professional Background
Bachelor of Fine Art, Ceramics, Northern Illinois University
Masters of Art Education, Arizona State University
Professional Background: I started teaching in 2011 as a K-8 art teacher. After that, I taught mostly high school ceramics, but I have also taught drawing and painting.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that art education is extremely important for students because it allows them to use their minds in a totally different way. Ceramics is not just an art class, it is a problem solving class. In ceramics, we learn to be more creative and solve complex problems. We have tons of fun but also work hard. I believe any student can succeed as long as they are willing to try!
