Welcome to Chemistry at Hamilton High School! Chemistry is the study of matter, its properties, how and why substances combine or separate to form other substances, and how substances interact with energy. Many people think of chemists as being white-coated scientists mixing strange liquids in a laboratory, but the truth is we are all chemists. Understanding basic chemistry concepts is important for almost every profession. Chemistry is part of everything in our lives.
My Education and Professional Background
This is my 15th year of teaching. I spent the first half of my career as an educator at Red Mountain High School in Mesa and plan to spend the second half here at Hamilton High School in Chandler. I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from UNLV in Nevada and a Masters in Secondary Education from University of Phoenix here in Arizona. I have taken several graduate classes at ASU and MSU to maintain my dual enrollment certification. Learning, improving, and becoming educated is a life-long journey! As one of the people I admire most from the scientific community once said, "Once you stop learning, you start dying." - Albert Einstein.
My Educational Philosophy
I have passionate belief in the importance of family, hard work, respect, kindness, and patriotism! I love our country and believe we should be working very diligently to take care of our planet as well as each other. I love my job! I look forward to coming to work every day, and I believe that high school can be the most amazing time in a person's life. I hope to contribute to that experience in a positive way by encouraging responsibility, integrity, knowledge, friendship, and goal-setting. I am married to an amazing man who is as passionate about education as I am. I am the mother of three amazing kids and stepmom of two who make sure that I have my finger on the pulse of the world today.
