Welcome!
¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! Me llamo Señor Hoddy. Cómo se llama usted?
My Education and Professional Background
Mr. Hoddy received his Spanish Degree and Teaching Certification from Arizona State. He studied a semester of Spanish at the University of Granada, Spain, and completed his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership at Northern Arizona.
My Educational Philosophy
Students are learning in a highly sophisticated society, where they are faced with a variety of social, moral, and academic choices. I feel that it is my job as a teacher to facilitate an array of meaningful learning experiences in order to maximize their potential for being literate and functioning citizens of society. I feel the best opportunities for learning, occur when students are working in a positive and safe environment. To me, this type of setting promotes risk-taking and academic growth in the individual. My goal as a teacher is to guide my students in their choices, by tapping into their personal interests, prior knowledge, and learning processes in a positive and supportive manner. I feel it is the uniqueness of each and every student that determines which social, moral, and academic choices he/she will adopt as his/her own. The opportunity to have a positive impact on student choices is what challenges and motivates me as a teacher.
