About
Chen...
Dear Students and Parents,
My Education and Professional Background
My name is Lily Chen. I moved to Arizona from Chengdu, China (home of the Giant Panda) in 2004. I have a bachelor's degree in English Literature from West China University and a master's degree in Elementary Education from University of Phoenix. I started my teaching career in 1998 and have been teaching at Hamilton High School since 2010. Reading is always my passion because I believe literature offers people an opportunity to explore the human society, acknowledge the individual difference, and embrace the common dignity. I have earned my National Board Certification in teaching English Language Arts (Ages 14-18+: Adolescence and Young Adulthood).
My Educational Philosophy
I truly believe that teaching is a profession that requires passion, dedication, and a commitment to a life-long learning. As a teacher, I should not only hold students up to a high expectation, but also encourage and support them as much as possible. In addition to that, I believe good education is not just about getting good grades---it should be the process for students to refine their characters and recognize the "hero" in their heart.
