The Hamilton High School Student Council is the representative leadership organization of the student body. Student leaders of the sophomore, junior, and senior classes are elected to represent their respective classes each spring. The freshman council leaders are selected through an interview process during the first week of classes each fall. The Student Council is organized into two distinct bodies. The executive board is voted on by the whole school. There are eight officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Chairman, Spirit Commissioner, Historian, and Parliamentarian. There are six officers for each class: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Spirit representative, and Publicity representative. Student Council is a class that meets during 4th hour. Student leaders are instructed in the qualities of a good leader with a focus on the strategies that insure success for leaders. Students learn the duties of a leader as well as how to plan, organize, execute, as well as evaluate an activity. The focus is on the role of representation of others, striving to serve the students of Hamilton High School. The Student Council represents the students, plans dances (Homecoming, Hoop-coming, and Prom), organizes fund raisers, plans and executes assemblies, organizes service projects, develops school spirit through spirit weeks, honors both students and staff, and manages publicity for the student activity program.
