Welcome!

History is a passion of mine; I especially enjoy learning about the Civil War, WWII and The Civil Rights Movement. I am excited to teach Social Studies this year, I look forward to working with all my new students and their families. I am married, have two children, and an eight-year-old grandchild. We have two dogs Hennessey Paisley and Bosco. My personal hobbies include spending time with my family, traveling with my wife, and collecting history memorabilia and books.

My Education and Professional Background

I have been teaching since 2017. This is my First Year at Casteel High School. I am originally from Mesa, Arizona, and lived here all my life. I attended Mesa Public Schools where I graduated from Westwood High School. I attended Arizona State University and received my Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies in History and Education in 2009. In April of 2017, I received my Masters in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University. I am certified to teach History, Middle School Social Studies, and I am also SEI endorsed.

My Educational Philosophy

As a student of History, I have learned to recognize the patterns that our past has experienced. As an educator of History, it is my goal to teach those patterns so that future generations can learn whether to allow history to repeat itself. I believe every student should be equipped with the necessary tools and ideals to become lifelong learners. I will provide an atmosphere where there is trust, respect and comfort so students feel motivated to engage in their learning.
