    Welcome!

Welcome to Casteel! I am excited to be a part of your student’s educational journey and I am looking forward to this school year. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns!

    My Education and Professional Background

I attended high school here in the valley and graduated from Red Mountain High School. I then received my A.A. degree at MCC and transferred to NAU to complete my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. After completing my Bachelor’s degree, I had the opportunity to work in behavioral health as a social worker. This experience taught me a lot, and because of it I feel like some of my strengths are compassion, patience, empathy, and flexibility. I always try to incorporate these characteristics in my classroom and aim to create a comfortable and welcoming space for learning. After working as a social worker for a few years, I decided I wanted to shift careers and went on to complete my M.Ed. in Secondary Education at GCU. I completed my student teaching in CUSD and I was lucky enough to come to Casteel in January of 2021. I am really looking forward to making this year the best one yet!

    My Educational Philosophy

I believe that all students have the capability to succeed. I aim to create a safe and comfortable space in my classroom where students will feel respected and where they can have the opportunity to be a part of their own learning. I value communication and ask students to communicate when they have questions or concerns. My classroom is a judgement free environment where students will be able to individually learn, collaborate with peers, gain an in-depth understanding through different activities, and overall enjoy learning about history, social studies, and psychology.
